I may be condoning cheating, but I wouldn't expect a penalty for someone who drops a ball from a little below or above knee height, the same as I didn't take much notice if it was a little below or above shoulder height.

I believe that falls under the sheep station clause...I can't believe that the R&A didn't define knee height accurately. I've no idea if I should be lining the bottom of the ball up with the top or bottom of my patella. This will cause anguish.

They should have said 'drop from thigh height'.

That gives a half metre range for the average adult (joint-to-joint), prevents senior players from bending down and stop the armchair pedants from phoning the USGA, when watching replays.

They made the same rule change regarding a double hit in tennis. Then had to change it again to where the double hit must occur in the one motion. Why didn't golf pickup on this?

Agreed. Or drop between hip and knee heights.Smallest things trigger my back pain and I had to drop a ball on a slope then rush to stop the ball. Set it off big time. I’ll be kneeling from now on so I’ll look like I’m proposing every time I drop the ball. 😏

Do you kneel to put a tee in the ground?

Played as a two yesterday morning.

Putting with the flag in was a super time saver, especially when the other player was held up by bunker raking.

If the group understands the rule it is brilliant. If not, it is a lot of of a face palm moments.

Playing behind 4 gibberers who do 4:30 makes all the stupid "time savers" irrelevant.

Did you mark your own card when you were that far ahead? 😂

There is one guy in the group that marks all cards at Ferrins club. He had to SMS back.

It doesn't matter, as the day's scores were entered before teeing off.

It just depends whether it was Norm, George or Claude's turn to win the comp that week.

Easiest way to speed up play. Just stay in the clubhouse and write down the score you think you would have had 😂

Seems like the flagstick in the hole gives the best results when putting according to MyGolfSpy testing.

Yep, agree. I leave it in as often as I can, I think it speeds up play on the greens as a result too...

Beaconhills has decided to not play the Irish drop local rule . Not sure I agree , when you combine it with the 3 min lost ball , I think we are going to be slower and or see more ncr . Twice today we had lost balls and no provisionals hit because neither where bad shots they just vanished . Was a stroke round so back they went . One ball was found after the next ball was in play . Our course has lots of trees and lots of slopes with lots of run so 3 mins isn’t long enough to explore all possible hiding places . I think we should be playing the rule
