Brydon? BDC? You guys have lost me.
Surely with the flag stick rule you just leave it in until it's convenient for someone to remove and then leave it out? We aren't playing for sheep stations where the 0.2% advantage of puting it back in is worth the wasted time.
So is anyone looking forward to an extra dimension being added to preferred lies? A person could now off the tee use a Wilson Ultra distance ball that has been in their bag for 5 years because it goes further (maybe) and then providing they are on the fairway to be able to take a preferred lie crack out a ProV1 for their approach shots. Sounds like fun.

Model Local Rule E-3
When a player's ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less [or identify a specific area such as 'on the fairway of the 6th hole'], the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area:
In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rules 14.2b(2) and 14.2e.
- Reference Point: Spot of the original ball.
- Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: [Specify size of relief area, such as one club-length, one scorecard length or 6 inches] from the reference point, but with these limits:
- Limits on Location of Relief Area:
- Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
- Must be in the general area.
Penalty for Playing Ball from a Wrong Place in Breach of Local Rule: General Penalty Under Rule 14.7a."
Model local rule, so some gumby committee would have to implement it.

I think the out of bounds 2 shot rule will be a local rule too.
Magenta should introduce it, but good chance they wont
I would to be honest. Lost ball where is enters the crap and back into the fairway as if you hit your provisional there. Sounds good.
Not great if you think you can advance the provisional past that point but a week struck shot into crap and drop out sounds a faster option
It won’t be a local rule
There is a lot of crap at my course that's not far from the fairway / rough. So a lot of the time you hit it well, and don't find it. That's where it would be speedy .
Holes like 3, 5, 10, 11 instantly come to mind where you can hit it well and be only 1 metre off the fairway and lose a ball. So in those situations the 'irish drop' would speed play up and you would be in a good spot
Yep. So say you hit off the tee (1), lost ball, penalty (2,3) hitting 4 from fairway.
Or you hit tee shot (1), lost ball penalty (2), tee off again (3) and then hit 4th from where that ball goes (possibly in the crap again)??
I'd take guarantee fairway clear next shot most , if not every time.
Maybe I'm not understanding the rule correctly??
Or I'm thinking of using it to my advantage on some holes.
Take number 2 Magenta, not a green that you go for in 2 (par 5) as OB left, junk right and long.
Now if the local was in play, you hit a good drive and go for it in 2, going OB or lost ball right, youve got a much better chance of getting up and down for bogey from near the green than trying to thread the needle again for 4th shot, or laying up and hitting 150m in.
Well that's how I see it working in that situation.
But I lose a ball from 100m out I'll hit a provisional. Each situation on its own I guess. It's a speed improvement if you know you're going to drop one if you don't find it
Sure. If I can see that it’s in the crap on a par 3 and dead I’d just reload. If it’s a par 4/5 and I think the drive is ok and only find it’s lost/OB etc once I get up there I’d drop every time. Currently I just pick up and wipe the hole if it’s stab. No way I’m going to hold the whole world up by walking back to the tee. Life is too short.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!
IMO from 2019 if ANY player walks back to a tee box in a full field they are fair game and can be beaten to a pulp
