I suspect that 'attending the flag' will disappear, and it will tend to be either 'in' or 'out'.
That was my feeling from today.
I appreciated the new rules today, especially dealing with spike marks (not that I holed any more putts as a result though).

What’s weird though is they want to introduce a maximum score of 9,8,7 (par 5,4,3) on medal round
Might as well be stableford

But it’s a medal round....

Agree B and C need to be Stableford on Medal days. I played with a dude yesterday who had two 10's and an 11.. 🤪

Why should stroke play only be for A graders? Doesn't golf have enough exclusion issues as it is?
Blokes at clubs who don't give a faark about anyone other than themselves finishing 2 holes behind the group in front (not reprimanded by boards), watching professional golfers and their ludicrous pre shot routines play in 5 plus hours and not be penalised, all bigger factors than what grade you are in.
Opt out stableford on medal days? If you are racking up a bakers dozen, pick up and you are in a comp, just not the stroke?
Yep, agreed. More style of play than strokes taken is the slow play problem.
Stonecutters Ridge have an option for people to play a stableford comp if they don't want to play medal but you have to chose before you tee off.
Your idea is a great solution if it could be done.
So this additional competition is for players that screw up a hole, essentially putting them out of the running for the main competition, that they chose to play in. A consolidation competition for those not good enough. No thanks.
The same player would take less time to hit 7 shots then pickup, than to take 11 shots to close out a hole. Therefore, their round would take equal or less time, if they were to play stableford. If there are people that are playing slow, then this is a separate issue. Less strokes equals less time.
I really don't get the attachment that people seem to have to having the right to play stroke competition.
It is the millennial me me me generation that is the issue
