Default Dash for the single figure handicap

Right. 2 weeks to go till the new year and I’m gonna have a crack at getting down to single figure handicap at my home course.

My current GA handicap is 9.8 and I need to get down to 7.8.

I’m going to play as many comp rounds as I can. Not gonna work on any mechanical swing thought other than aim and swing. No range work. Will practice short putts everyday for 15-20 min to groove the stroke.

    16/12
    Course: Port Kembla
    GA 9.8
    Played off 12
    Score: 37 points
    Putts: 36

According to Golfmetrics, I drove the ball like an 8 capper, approach was scratch, short game 8, and putted like 15.

Yes, that’s the idea. Play percentage golf and stay away from sucker pins. 😉

Is this thread going to degenerate into swing theory discussion again?

Good luck, Jono. That's a big drop in a short period of time. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to achieve it. You should be happy with any improvement.

Single figure golfers don't share pens or pencils or sharpies, so you'll fit right in.

Thanks mate. Yeah, I won’t be disappointed if I don’t get there. More of an experiment. I usually play once a week so it will be interesting to see if playing 3-4 rounds a week without any range/technical practice my get me over this sticking point in my handicap. 😊

Works for me , putting down to 30 will do the trick , sometimes improving your chipping gets the putts down ( depending on greens in reg) good luck with your challenge

Yeah, I thought I took so many putts cos I hit so many greens... then I used Golfmetrics and the strokes gained system and it still tells me I’m a crap putter. 😂

Two putting everything could mean you are an ok to good putter , you need to look at the actual putts , if they are all 10 + metres it could mean your irons and chipping needs work . If they are all under 3 mts and you miss them all then yes you are a crap putter .

Played Shell Cove with Peps today in about 2 club wind.

    GA handicap 9.5
    Daily handicap 10
    Score 27 points (ouch)

Peps played well today in the wind for 39 points. No shanks. 👍

I have to play well in the next couple of rounds as my round at Kooralbyn (sloped played to 4. is due to come off after 2 more rounds.

Yes it was a comp and he drove hour and a half this morning to get to the course as well.He must have had some special NZ water. Looked like a different golfer to the one I played with at the QLD champs. 😉

So you just gave him his winnings before you tee'd off? It's what the rest of us do now.

I'd sooner play Mr Creosote than Peps if food was on the line
