Good one Jono, be interesting to see what that does to the cap, really good rounds don’t seem to impact as much as they used to.

Thanks mate. Yeah, under the old system, I would have lost 2-3 shots for sure. I’ll post my new GA handicap up tonight.

    Well done Jono.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

So was DSR 2 under par? Seems odd on such a high slope course.

Yep. IMO, slope rating at Port shouldn’t be 137. It should be around 127-130. But it’s out of my control. That’s why I don’t gauge the GA handicap as my true handicap.

DSR and slope are unrelated bro.

Has to be in some way. If slope wasn’t 137, most wouldn’t have their cap inflated by 2 to 4 shots, so scores wouldn’t be as high.

So what’s the formula to calculate what you played to?

Today you had 9 better, but after dsr that equates to 7 better which means you played to 5. So then apply this Calc 5/137 x 113 = 4.1 played to.

if you add course set and summer run to the equation they most certainly are . I argued until I was blue in the face with Warragul captain about this , 125 slope off the blues , tues comp tees forward 27 daily cap could reach all par 3 ‘s but got 2 shots on them plus get around a dogleg on a par 5 in two nett 0 and wedge in had for third , 46 pts is common in summer so is a dsr of 66 , I had 40 pts one day didn’t win a ball and got a shot back , don’t play there much and certainly not in summer

I always used to try my hardest to play to or beat my handicap.Trouble was, when I fell behind then I always made small stupid mistakes trying to make the shots up.So then after a half decent round I would be unhappy because Of the result. But in reality I wasn't playing the course,I was playing against myself. Now I really don't care about trying to make up shots, just limit the mistakes. The plus side is I am now making fewer mistakes and making better scores. The handicap will look after itself,IF,I continue to limit the mistakes and take advantage of the good shots when they come
