41 Points today (19/22). 83 off the beater. And finished with a 1 pointer after drowning my second. No birdies, 1 double. Will be my 5th flagged round in a row. 2x3 putts, both bogies on par 3s ... Hit 7 fairways but the misses were just off the edges so nothing really awful off the tee. Did bin a monster putt across the green on 7 for par.

Played today at Gardiners Run,and what a nice course it was.Played off the back markers, par 5's were 3 shot holes but all the par 4's were reachable.Started with a 156m thin drive on the first that culminated into a double bogey.Another thin drive on the 2nd,scrambled for a par, didn't think I would find a groove, but then on the 5th I hit my 2nd to a foot for Birdie, then things just followed on.Had 3 birdies for the day,a bunch of pars and drove the ball very well, hit my irons solid, just over read a few putts for birdie that would have made for an even better day.

    Score was 77 OTS
    10 of 14 fairways
    11 greens in reg
    32 putts

Putts are still high, but given the amount of 8metre plus putts I had,I managed a round with 0x 3 putts

Last round of the year, so I set a lot of targets for myself, but I didn't reach any of them. I'm not too disappointed with my 34 point score, though.

I started by hitting the ball poorly but my putting was spot on. I finished by hitting the ball very well and losing shots on the greens. Very frustrating.

Another positive was the avoidance of double bogeys for the first time in a long while.

32 points on Wednesday. Net 77 around Bribie today. Just a bit off on both days. Back out tomorrow and probably Monday to try and reduce the handicap a bit more before the year turns.

Played a 2 man Ambrose at beaconhills today , 70 nett 66 very mediocre. Score actually flattered us , only used 7 of my drives , only sank one putt and that was from off the green . Partner hit three shanks ,

My last comp round for the year in pretty awful conditions today (preferred lies/ all bunkers GUR thanks to over 800mm of rain since the start of the month).

I had 33pts with one lost ball wipe and what felt like a thousand putts.

    Virginia
    Played to 4.7 for 38pts
NTP 3rd and oooh so close to hole in one, lipped out apparently.
2 lose holes at the end kind of spoiled it.

    Played the last two days.

Saturday was a slow start with 5 after 4, fighing back to end up with 35.
Backed it up today with 3 birdies, 5 ones and a wipe, but 38 points.

In the last 11 days i have dropped from a daily of 9 to 7.

Golf is gonna suck when I go back to once a week and never practising

Deester hosted myself and some mates at the National today.

Dee played solid all day for 38 points, I vomited all over myself on the back nine after a reasonable front nine for 28 points.

    Cracking day

32 points at Magnetic Island Country Club as my last hit for 2018. Here on holiday with the family and the first time I've played the course. It didn't help that it was blowing at least 25 knots.

Not a bad 9 hole course with quite a bit of elevation change. It's not a long course with only one par 5 (3/12) and a number of short par 3s and 4s. No bunkers or water hazards but quite a few out of bounds areas which caught me out more than once.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Snuck another 18 in for the last of 2018.Played at Gardiners Run again today, really like the layout and fairway bunkering. They have a couple without going overboard on most holes, most of them around my length so a little caution required.Played a social round again with a few friends, and although my putting once again let me down,I still managed to pick up 3 birdies.

Played Thursday after boxing day and score a standard low 30s again with me struggling to hit the driver.
Played 29th and was hittig a little better. Still struggled with the driver but hitting irons pretty well. Ended the day with 35 points.

Played yesterday for the last game of the year.... hitting driver better but getting me into trouble a few times. Hitting irons very well which was shown with GIR for 7 holes and getting 7 pars in a row. BUT, blowing 3 holes and missing a few close putts didnt help. Finish the day with only 37 points off 16hdcp.

Heres hoping to a better new year

If you are struggling with the driver,do you have another club that would be your "go to"club off the tee

Unfortunately not... for some weird reason, I was unable to hit my 4 wood and my 3I Crossover on the same day. its just one of those days where I would hit the perfect drive off one hole, then the next would be good but slightly off alignment and I land in the bush/behind tree/etc.... then the next would be a dogs breakfast pulled hook deep into the trees. then I would hit the perfect drive again.... SMH

my FIR can be pretty bad at times....

    looking back, I should probably just stick with the 3I just to keep the ball in play;

One thing I know I will need to improve on is my fitness level... As I have noted on tough courses, I would start off playing well, then I would loose concentration when I start to get tired/hot/etc..... The boys I've played with during the WA gathering at Manjumup probably can agree that I was keeping up with them, but just crashed and burnt at the back 9

Yep,as far as fitness goes I am noticing a big difference towards the end of a round. I have also made an effort to start my hydration 2 days before play, because smashing a couple of bottles of water during a round is to late.I also reduced my alcohol intake to almost nothing these days and the weight came off in a hurry

yeah... good point about the hydration 2 days prior... i will keep that in mind in future...
Will have a game this weekend at the WAGC, so hopefully it will help

Meanwhile, I think I have figured out my 4W and my 3I, so will see if they can be my backups off the tee.
