This game can suck my d###.

First game with a handicap of more than 10 for a decade. Was square at the turn and 1 up after 12 holes, than had wipes all the way home.

27 Friday at Thurgoona in 45 degrees, 32 at Corowa Saturday, then a major gag 29 yesterday at Howlong when the all night poker/winery your pre round/no lunch/ten cans got the better of my game.

    Another great Murray Masters trip.

All finished for the year over the weekend.

    Friday - Maryborough stableford
Started like a busted arse, 13 points on the front. Wiped 10, then something happened and shot 22pts on the last 8 holes. People may have confused me for someone who can play.
    13/22 35

    Saturday - Maryborough stableford
Changed driver, and suffered, hitting bugger all fairways. Couldn't recreate my back 9 heroics.
    14/15 29

    Sunday - Royal Queensland.
Played with the vice captain, looking to get a nomination. Played very friendly, and much smarter after the Ozgolf day showed me lines I didnt think of as we played that day. Changed driver again, and couldn't miss. Highlight was a 60ft bird putt on 3, lowlight was a bladed bunker shot on 4 leading to a wipe.

Quite mediocre golf from me today. 33 points was probably about as good as I could have hoped for. The major highlight was a chip-in for birdie at the last with a gallery watching from the clubhouse balcony.

Fortunately those viewers didn't see my three doubles and a number of putts left short going right in the heart. I still dislike ultra slow greens.

All the flagged rounds from a purple patch I had in April and May are about to drop off, so I'm likely to start the new year with some extra handicap.

88/73 to play to my handicap in todays Dingo Hill at Gailes.

A very weak bogey on the last after only having 90m to the pin for the 3rd shot spoilt my round.

Slow start at Kooindah today with a wipe then 4 x 1 pointers in the first 5 holes (back 9 first). Then played the next 4 in -1 to have 16 points at the turn.

Played solid the second 9 for 3 over, 21pts and a total of 37.

Happy that I ground it out after such a rough start.

4bbb par at beaconhills, qualifying round for summer cup which I won last year , different partner ( got dropped by last years ) +2 +2 , strange round in that we didn’t put a minus on the card , all 4 pluses were mine ( but I also had four minuses) if we qualify we will be last group in

Individual stableford this morning while playing chicken with the remains of cyclone Owen. No winds yet, but some stupidly heavy rain in patches. We had to chip the ball to the cup on a few occasions due to water pooling on the greens. There's currently only 17 hardy souls who have actually completed 18 holes.

    41 points with a wipe & a 1. 3 straight birdies on 17, 18 & 1. Had a good look at a few more as well.

That should arrest the slide towards anchor for a few more weeks.

Well done Courty and Ash. Especially well done given the conditions.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Stableford at beaconhills today ,off 6 , Jekyll and Hyde played today . 22/11 , bogeyed the first after a good drive , birdied 6 ( ntp) and 8 to turn one under , careless bogey on 10 , ntp 11 ( left putt in the jaws), best drive on 12 in ages , big slice second shot 3 putt double, lost the plot with putter and combined with a couple cruel bounces care factor quickly hit zero , couple of wipes and 11 pts was the result .

Wednesday comp, and after a flat out morning saving the world, got there just in time for the last group.

2 points after 2 was appropriate, but got it together everywhere but on the greens.

33 putts, with 6 missed birdie putts inside 15 foot. Sigh. With a warm putter it could have been awesome, but 37 was a good result.

Three rounds left to play this year. Can I get back into the 6 point somethings.... I doubt it.

Stableford with Olinda GC today.Started off well and I pretty much just kept a good tempo for most of the day.Got a bit tyred towards the end but pretty happy with the result.

22/17 for 39 points and the A grade win and overall win as well.Cap down to my lowest at 9.7 since returning to golf a few years ago. Also finding my groove around the greens with 4/7 par saves and 29 putts. Also started the round with a 4 pointer which doesnt hurt.Missed par 3 green to the right pin high, but in the hazard.Struck a perfect chip that landed the edge of green and released 3 metres to drop in for birdie

Don't think I've turned the corner after 6 months of going backwards, but I was able to string a few together.

Had me off 11 today, 19 points out and 20 coming in.

1 double, 6 bogies the rest pars. Missed a 3 ft birdie and scrambled well

Yesterday afternoon I played with Bushy & two of the club (semi) pros in a Par event. It was one of my best driving rounds for quite some time, which helped set up some scoring opportunities. 3 birdies in +3 (75 gross).

This morning I went out for an early stableford round with Tomson. I wasn't quite as sharp as yesterday but still put 34pts on the board, despite a wipe and 6 x 1s (4 penalties will do that ).

Sounds like you need to reassess your choice of putter brand.

No just pushing too hard for birdie. I should lag more.
