Given Rory was born up the road (in NI), how did he play for Ireland in the Olympics?

This was his big dilemma.

Apparently amateur golf is unified between Ireland and NI, it’s one entity. He represented Ireland in golf as a junior and felt comfortable or obliged representing them rather than GB.

Or something like that.

The course is on the island of Ireland, in Northern Ireland of the United Kingdom, but not in the Republic of Ireland. I hope that clears things up.
