Default Where’s Hatchman Saturday May 4 Course 8 - Coomealla

This one is a course I’ve played many times. Booked in for the Comp which happens to be the Monthly Medal.
Beautiful morning for it first group off.

    Course revealed Sunday May 5

    Coomealla

    18 Holes
    Par 72
    6093m
    4 Par 5's
    10 Par 4's
    4 Par 3's

    $40 Green Fees 18 holes
    $25 Green Fees 9 Holes
    $40 Cart Hire 18 holes
    $25 Cart Hire 9 holes

Medium to large Bent Grass Grass Greens recently replaced after the course went under water 18month ago.
Mostly flat mix of Winter Rye and Santa Anna grass fairways winding there way through River Red and Black Box Gum trees.
The club have done a remarkable job to have a course to play on after a lot of the course went under water after during the flood. It's only the lowest lying areas that are taking a bit longer to bounce back.
I've played a lot of rounds here over the years and still love the course the a lot.

Playing with 2 in carts it was a bit hard to get any more pics than the above.

Your in the right area round abouts and where I was thinking about playing after this one but not correct.

    The Course is Coomealla.

I thought originally it was Coomie but some of those tree lines looked a bit tight so I went with Riverside.

Coomie is so good, I know they’re still recovering from the flood. Such a good country track for the money

Holes 1, 2 and 9 plus the back nine are really good at present.
The fairways on the low holes (3 through are struggling to recover from the floods.
    All greens are fine.

Not sure on your thoughts Hatch, but playing the back nine is wonderful golf. I'd wait another summer before playing the front nine with any conditioning expectations of the fairways.
As I said, the greens are fine.

The lower lying area holes 3-8 were under water for a little longer so naturally have suffered more. Another good season at the end of this year and early next year should see the Santa Anna take off again.
They’ve done a remarkable job to bring the course back to playable after what happened. One of the members I played with mentioned 1.5mil. Not sure how accurate that is.

I was back in Mildura last week staying at a place near the new 10th green of Mildura GC. (I think. It used to be the 12th.)
On a perfect Saturday morning the course was almost deserted. I was stunned.

I stayed at the Mildura Country Club one night each on the way up and on the way back. I never played the course or had any intention of playing it.
Played it once around 20-25yrs ago and didn’t like as it had too many silly short dogleg holes.
The course looked like it was in good condition. I did see some big groups either finishing or waiting to go off on the Sunday and Friday.
I had dinner at the Club on Sunday night. Not many in there and I was easily the youngest in there and I’m in my 50’s.

If I’m playing Golf in that area it’s in order:
    1. Coomealla
    2. Riverside
    3. Redcliffs
    4. Mildura Country Club
    5. Merbein

If you’re looking for some where to eat I recommend Andy’s Kitchen near the Cole’s right in Mildura.

There have been some significant changes since then. I think at least 10 holes have changed.
