Default 2018 Christmas Cup (Mug) Sunday 16th Dec @ 8.00am

As per the title, this years SA Ozgolf 'Christmas Cup (Mug)' is scheduled for Sunday 16th December at the usual venue of Kenton Valley GC.Tee off time 8.00am, and for a change it has been proposed, (and passed), that it is played as a 'Skins' type event, $1 a hole, no handicaps involved, - should be good for a laugh! Then we can head off to lunch somewhere afterwards. So, who is in?

Gents do we want to play carry-over skin (until outright win) or just a share payout per hole.

Carry over is the most fun but I’m wary of making the game not fun as some might get a little shaky if the pot gets big

thinking about the format this morning...

There will be alot of halved holes on a Par 3 course with a group of 6+

Hence the best format will be a share payout and the person with the most money after 18 wins the mug

I reckon we make it $20 entry

$1 per hole for 18 holes

+ 2 Wildcards; could be both NTP's or perhaps 1 x NTP and 1st birdie, this would make the wildcard worth as much as a solo win on a hole, hence its a great way to boost you money score before end of round

In my spare time at home I have created a scoring spreadsheet and can bring my ipad on course to keep a running score at all times if any of the above does not make sense send me a PM and I will show you the spreadsheet

This could be lots of fun!

$20 in is a great idea.
I like the idea of the mega pressure if it carries over but on a par 3 with 6 of us it's quite possible that every hole would be halved and that would be a real fizzer.
The concept of shared skin for each hole works best and there's still the pressure of not stuffing the hole and missing out.
2x NTP is a good idea. The elevated Tee to the 2 different Greens would be the best for that one.

I can collect each entry ($) electronically, at the end of the round during lunch I can then wire transfer instantly to each of you; your respective winnings. My ING bank account has instant transfer (as I recently found out)

This will be a lot cleaner than mucking around carrying cash around the course when I already am carrying a bag and an ipad!

    Gents:

To avoid a potential mad rush to the pub do we want to start @ 8AM?

I assume as a 6 ball with pennies on the line the pace of play might be slower

    2 weekends away now.
This is my favorite game of the year.
1980 Titleist Tour Model Irons in 9,7,5 and 3 will be the weapons of choice. Will have to bring the Persimmon Cobra 3wood for the long hole as the matching Titleist Persimmon are in such good condition I'm too afraid to use them as much as I really want to. Putter will most likely be the Wilson 8802 Blade.

Awesome setup Hatch! very jealous of that 8802, I want one left handed!

    My setup will be:

    Toney Penna Persimmon 1-Wood

Macgregor Signature blades from the 70's 3,5,7,8,9

Macgregor Worsham Wedge (No idea of loft - around 52 I reckon)

Ping 1A Musical Putter - (the first PING putter ever made, mine is a re-issue sadly but still genuine PING) bring your ear plugs Marcel!

Macgregor Soft 2 Piece Fluro Balls, orange and green for this round I reckon

    Jones golf bag
