We can all agree that’s the most important consideration here.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

We already thought Warner was a flog, so things won't have changed too much.

I saw Boof Lehmann today, but there was no way I was going to ask him about their return.

Good win against the Windies last night after the they looked like they had it under control by the middle of the game.

I saw the score at 5/80 and laughed. I'm not ready to support the team fully again.

    Very unlucky.

Seems like a pretty shithouse way to decide a final.

It is a shithouse way to decide a two month tournament.

Any suggestions on how it should have been decided?
Another super over? Winner of previous match between the sides during the round robin stage?

I would have thought the fact that NZ bowled ENG out without them beating their score would have entitled them to win ?

Countback is via birth, if the entire Kiwi side is born in NZ they win because we know the Poms will have at least half a dozen ring ins.

According to this article the umpires got the overthrow decision wrong that gave the Poms 6 runs.

This is sweet payback to the cry baby NZ sheep molesters after all the whingeing they did about the underarm ball in the 80's.

Jaysus Jack, you might want to let it go at some stage.

Much as I am prepared to put shi(u)t on the brothers a win by England, India or the yarpies offends me significantly more. Bairstow has the most punchable head in world cricket...…..and is a chronic whiner.

Call me harsh but Boult's lack of precise awareness on that Stokes catch cost them the game prior to the freak deflection et al. He had no idea the rope was so close and was making no effort at all to throw it back in to Guptil who was waiting for just that. He started to look back for the rope about the same time he stepped on it and suddenly realised he had to get rid of it. Boult is a fantastic catcher too and they make catches like that look pretty routine nowadays. For sure he thought that rope was a little further back. It was extremely likely to be game over if he took that. Heck even if it was thrown back in it was -5 runs.

At least if the Poms prepare green decks, our bowlers will hopefully be able to take advantage. The concerning part is that the better performing bowlers were the ones that aren't going to make the squad ...

Starc should not be an automatic test selection.

I'd still think they would out bat us under such conditions more times than not. They play that moving ball far better than our guys.

At the end of the day it's still only a friendlies match even if a bit concerning. Some guys would have a bit of a WC hangover and a few sure things may have had trouble getting up for it. It was a golden opportunity for quite a few tho. Lets hope it gets better.

England just made us feel a whole lot better, for the moment at least. I don't think even our mob could emulate that 85.

Choosing to prepare green-tops and the Dukes ball may backfire on England. Neither side is good at handling the moving ball (although, in fairness, I can't think of a current side that is), so it may come down to a bit of luck with the toss. Which Paine is notoriously bad at.

Picking the right bowling lineup may be more important than getting the batting order correct. If it is a crap-shoot all round, any combination of batsmen may be as good as another. But I agree with Yoss that Starc (and Hazlewood) should be under the pump. While I am great fans of them both, I would be tempted to leave them out, pending pitch conditions, to include Siddle and Pattinson who seem to be bowling better in those conditions. However, Pattinson's very poor history with injury almost then guarantees that we need to re-include an allrounder at no. 6; the only option there being Mitch Marsh ...

    Decisions, decisions.

They wouldn't add an all rounder if Pattinson plays. Despite being a bit injury plagued in recent years the odds of him breaking down mid test are too long to cover for. Marsh actually bowls a pretty good outswinger and you can bet your bottom dollar they'd be dying to get him in as usual. Stoinis and his World Cup.

I think the Poms will handle the moving ball better than us most times tho they've lost a couple of players since last visit. Familiarity has to help. Root's particularly good. On paper they are not as strong as previously imo. It would be beneficial if Anderson's not fit for the first test that's for sure.
