We lose 3-5 the crucial when we should be cashing in and putting up a huuuuuuuge total.

Marsh’s running Maxy out didn’t bloody help.

Good work by Stoinis and Carey. We threatened more but 313 is on the board.

Nice to see the tactics of having Maxwell as a ‘floater’ in the batting order - perfect way to use him. Leaving him to rot at no. 7 behind Hanscomb was ridiculous, but equally you don’t really want him coming in at 3-10 in the third over.

If we replace Handscomb with Smith and Marsh with Warner, the batting lineup actually starts looking OK (not great, but certainly better). Warner and Finch (hopefully back in some sort of form), followed by Ussie and Smith if a few wickets fall early. Otherwise, Maxwell and Stoinus move up the order and keep the runs moving along. Add Starc back into the bowling lineup, and Australia may actually pose a bit of a threat in the World Cup. Don’t think they have any real chance of winning it, but they could certainly make it through to the semi-finals - I wouldn’t have said that a month or so ago.

We might be worth a flutter as the odds should be good. Actually we seem to be third faves at $6. The Poms are pretty much half that.

Dunno if you could fit both Stoinus and Turner into the one side, but worth thinking about.

Final squad of 15 for the World Cup is looking increasingly complicated - nice problem to have though. Hanscomb also didn’t do his chances any harm, but Shaun Marsh must be on very shaky ground.

May not have predicted this problem a couple of months ago. Kwaka would have been one to make way for Warner and Smith i think but he's well in contention for the 15 now. Could it be a Marshless 15? I have a lot more confidence in Shaun in ODI's but we've got some younger players going really well too.

What a fantastic series win. Kwaka has been a revelation opening and Zampa stepped up as well among numerous others.

Agreed, far from an insignificant series win.

I'm interested how the team dynamic will be when the 2 tamperers return.

    From the SMH story:

"Pat Cummins topped the wicket-taking list with 14 wickets at 15.71.

No Australian has ever had such a prolific five-match ODI series in India, the next best effort was Carl Rackemann’s 11 wickets at 12.54 in 1984."

Maybe we should name him The Postman as he always delivers.

I had a quick look at the Times of India's report on the game, based on the comments Kohli is a crap captain, Shastri a crap coach and the selectors should be shot.

Resting Dhoni was the reason they lost as Pant is a crap keeper and an unreliable batsman.

Pattinson carves up NSW in the second innings of his comeback dig. The duke of earl was strangely subdued last round but not anymore.

Good to see their press is more fickle than ours. It's so good to see Cummins fulfilling his potential after so many big setbacks. Seems like a damn good bloke too, down to earth and all that.

You can probably tell by Carey's comments a day or so ago there might still be a couple of players not overly content with them. From memory Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon were not happy originally. Another big change will be the amount of sledging we cop, and we will surely cop it. Warner better toughen up.

Yeah it will be interesting to see if the dynamic changes when they come back in. It was mentioned this morning that with Warner/Smith coming back in, we are favs for the world cup.

Wow - want to see how much the Dukes ball swings? Have a gander on the Cricket Australia site on Abbott's spell for NSW today. Huge movement.

On a side-note, there appears to be an article on news.com.au everyday saying how Matthew Wade is heaping pressure on the selectors to pick him for the Test team. Personally, I reckon his time has been and gone in terms of Test cricket, particularly with Smith and Warner coming back, and certainly not ever again as a keeper. But why is no-one talking about him for the ODI side? His crap keeping is not such an issue in the short-form, and his batting looks more useful that Carey's at the moment.

The good thing for Finch is that the pitches in England are actually going to be fairly similar to these (which sounds strange I know), as the home team are basing their challenge around scoring big on very flat decks, and therefore the pitches are all likely to be featherbeds with minimal movement. And then, mysteriously, the pitches will all suddenly change dramatically for the Ashes, and start seaming all over the place ...

Considering that the two sides are only one ranking spot apart, it seems a little one sided so far. Whose good idea was it to schedule five ODIs with no crowds?
