When can Smith come back into the squad? It would have to be soon.

Yeah OK - so in time for WC and Ashes series. I'm assuming he'll just slot back into the squad, but probably not as captain.

Love the reactions in the dismissal of Hilton Cartwright in the NSW V WA match:

Ball is smashed into the head of the short-leg fielder and rebounds up in the air. All eyes (batsman, bowler, wicketkeeper, umpires) follow the flight of the ball and the bowler catches it. Fielders and bowler all celebrate and start jumping around and batsman slumps off. Meanwhile the short-leg fielder is still lying flat on his back on the ground ...

Cartwright must have run over several cats this year, has suffered some awful luck.

I wouldn't be too upset if he didn't.

Fantastic innings by Maxy to win the 2nd T20 against India, Finch provided his usual contribution.

There was this stat in the news this morning.. pretty impressive.
Glenn Maxwell did not play a single defensive shot in his stunning match-winning century. He scored 22 off 18 rotating shots and blitzed an astonishing 91 runs from 37 attacking shots.

He's a talent. It would have been interesting to see how he went given an extended run in red ball cricket.

Dhoni rarely ever gets out early but if we can remove him we are a huge chance despite our low score. Prick loves these scenario's tho.

Dhoni is absurd when it comes to closing out ODI matches even from long range. I hope he gets out pronto to give us the smallest glimmer of hope. He will be invaluable in the WC.

The media's right onto him now. It's put our World Cup preparations and plans into disarray given he's captain and our captaincy stocks are very low to put it mildly. In form he's one of the most destructive white ball players on the planet so we are missing that too.

Paine's probably not up to making the white ball team and the selectors went quite quickly this way. Bailey batted well at times recently and could certainly captain the side but they moved away from him a little while ago. Cummins seems to be the popular choice if it comes to it but it would be a massive move. Smith and Warner might be there which could be good or bad. I can imagine the press if Smith is being overly consulted or looking like he's part running the show. If they do get rid of Finch i wouldn't be counting Maxwell out.

With all the intangibles they might bite the bullet and leave Finch in all series praying that he finds some runs. It's a brutal headache to have.

How amazing has Chris Gayle been in his parting ODI Series for the West Indies against The Poms? 39yo and knocks up 135 in better than even time. a 50, 162 off 97 balls chasing 419 (and not finishing a huge way from it) and then 77 in 27 balls chasing the low target of 114. Unbelievable effort really.

Langer has confirmed that they’ll persist with Finch but hopefully the selectors are thinking about what next if nothing changes with Finch.

“Coach Justin Langer recently vowed to be patient during Finch's slump, which dates back to last July, and made a point to praise his level-headed leadership.”

I did see that. The ODI series in India is more important as a warm up for the WC than life or death. I'd leave him in personally. The media will ride this pony and i'd hate to be Finch lol

I'm a big fan of Finch, but even I woke up this morning and thought, he wouldn't have too many lives left.

Can bat as well as anyone when he is going, but seems a long way from anything close to form at the moment.

Will carry his hat for the India tour, but would expect he needs some runs to continue as captain for the WC.

Hope he gets amongst the runs in the next one

Signs of life from Finch last night but still didn't really get going. Shaun Marsh was disappointing yet again.
