I hear you. Short and Lynn are guys more suited to making higher totals. Pick and stick scenario's with guys like that would enhance our balance imo.

Agree 100%. I would have at least one less ‘accumulator’ (Ussie / Marsh / Hanscomb), and particularly when Smith comes back in. I feel for Finch at the moment. The selectors tried to turn him into a Test match opener, which was never going to work, and now he appears to have lost all confidence and his ODI form has gone as well. It wasn’t just that he got out today - it was that he looked like getting out a number of times in just a few balls.

Have to have an accumulator or two for sure. As you say Smith will do that role well. We should end up with a decent batting line up if they settle it right. Finch would be doing it tough for sure - hopefully he can find his feet again soon.

Did I mention how well Australia batted to make 288 on this minefield?

A problem with Lynn is that he is a liability in the field. He cannot dive to either side at all.

Good point too. He's a bit of a wreck when it comes to the body. You could hide him to an extent.

Sometimes, but he cost the Heat runs the other night, not that they would have won anyway.

Starting to get a bit nervous now - this partnership is looking dangerous.

The Heat have been so shyte. If they hit their straps look out but i think they are overly reliant on a few.

Great performance by the bowlers - was quite worried when Rohit was still going hard but it was always going to be hard for India to come back from 3-4. Will be interesting to see whether we can win when things don’t quite go that well at the top of the order.

When Cutting seems to be a lock for your side every week, you must be ordinary.

Man, years ago at one stage he really looked like he was going to be something. His first class bowling stats are reasonable tho.

3 of the 4 Australian batsmen aiming for the Test team are out before the Australian XI score hits 30. Not good signs.

For what its worth, I like the look of Pucovski's technique (based off three balls of vision so far). Nice back-and-across trigger movement to get into line.

Patterson not doing his chances of a call-up any harm. He needs to push on to a big hundred though - his big problem in recent years has been making a good start and then not go on to 100.

A big hundred would thrust him forth nicely in the present climate.

Currently 140* - compares nicely to the other contenders. Shame he isn't in the squad for the Test though ...

Patterson building on the century he made against WA in Perth recently. Good signs.

Also good to see Jake Doran doing well. He was going to be the next big thing, and then left Sydney and went to Tassie and has fallen off the radar a bit. Had a good season last year though, and he is still young, so he is hopefully coming good. Not sure whether trying to make him keep is a great idea. it seemed to really affect his batting when he was keeping for Tasmania.

They certainly did themselves proud. Hopefully they kick on in coming times. Doran had been batting very ordinary prior to this.
