Hi Folks, in about a month's time I'll be dragging my old bones down the Murray River, paddling 404km in 5 days and raising money for Foodbank Victoria.
15% of Australians (that's 3.6 million people!) have experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months, and the numbers are rising. Foodbank sources and distributes food to over 100,000 Victorians each month through a network of charity partners throughout the state, along with programs for people in crisis, disaster relief and free school breakfasts for hungry kids. Every dollar donated allows Foodbank to provide $8 worth of food to the community. It's a great cause.
In addition to the fundraising, I've been putting myself to work once a week serving up perfectly-cooked toast to the kids as part of the School Breakfast Club program at Newcombe Park Primary School - a fantastic program that provides a healthy breakfast and a friendly atmosphere for kids who might otherwise go without.
Please consider a donation if you're so inclined, anything you can spare will be much appreciated.
