Who wouldn’t be keen to spend a weekend on Hamo playing golf. Get cheap enough holiday homes to rent over there as well

It's a pity Laguna Quays doesn't exist anymore. A Hamilton Island / Laguna Quays double would be awesome.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

It still exists, work being done to it at the moment. Course re-opening probably 2 years away or more.

Good to hear that someone is trying to bring it back but I won't get my hopes up.

I just messaged the owner of Kooralbyn. His mate bought laguna. Looks like there are no immediate plans to re-open. They started redevelopment about a year ago, but it’s now stalled again.

I played Laguna heaps of times in the 90’s, at its peak it was the best conditioned course I have ever played. Great place to play and hang out.A mate sent me the link to this website a few years ago -http://www.savelagunawhitsundays.info/Save_Laguna_Whitsundays/Welcome.htmlAlmost makes me cry!

Agreed. The conditioning of the place was fantastic. Their fairways were superior to most FNQ club's greens.

The fairway grass was what was commonly used on other Qld resorts greens apparently.

Ahh Laguna what a course it was. Heard a bunch of Chinese business men purchased it in 2015 but just stalled. But with Paradise palms closing down I dont think NQ could sustain Laguna re opening at this stage. Its a shame as we have little on offer these days up here.

Look at you two, pumping it up, and talking about rumours, when you suggested it.

Last I heard was they had applied for a casino licence but weee knocked back. That was probably the end of their interest.

If the airport had of got off the ground Laguna would of florished to this day. They just need more access to the Whitsundays.

I know we need the rain, but isn't it always the way that it turns up right when you don't want it.

Not sure but I think old TC Owen is going to bugger my chances of playing this Saturday.

Not sure how I can bugger this up for you - other than send you into the woods and be captured by a different species!

At least then you will die a happy man

Unfortunately no golf, course was closed the days I had free to play, 300mm of rain and 35 knot winds will do that.

Course is going to look brillant once it finally clears up and the sun comes out.
