Hamilton Island Golf Advice
Hi All,
My family and I are holidaying on Hamilton in early December and I plan on getting round in.
Any advice from others that have played the course? I plan on hiring clubs (they say they use Titleist) has anyone else done this also and what are they like if you have?
It is expensive at $200 for the round and club hire, but after seeing it from a distance in January I think it should be worth it for a one off.

You need to add the cost of the golf balls you will lose, which I am told won't be inconsiderable.

Read that in some very old posts. I will be packing 12 in my carry on to take with me.

I’ve been over a few times now. You will probably find more balls than you lose.
Try and play it as early as possible, because when the breeze gets up, some of the holes become unplayable. In saying that, first ferry across to Dent is 9am and first hit off around 10am.
Let me know when you plan to play, and we can probably get a group together if you wanted.
I’ve also heard a rumour it could be a possible future qld champs venue as well.

And I think the hire clubs were 917 line and AP1 irons.

Thanks BITS, Saturday Dec 8 is the day I will be booking a round. Was planning on an early morning round, think I saw on their website it is from 7am now.

I hear you, lately I am finding there is always something on that prevents me from enjoying a round.

Played Hamo last year as part of a corporate golf day. A course that is impossible to walk (carts only) long and death by snu snu if you miss the fairway
My group lost around 40-50 golf balls for the round, Bear in mind none of them except me play regularly if at all
The course has some spectacular scenery and there are some fun driving holes, a couple of the par 3’s have amazing views, sadly when I was playing one of them was impeded by the group ahead. Apparently nudie runs do occur on golf courses...
I won’t go into the GCA as it’s a pretty miserable experience being told by the hole what to do in every situation. Almost like attending church
The food at the clubhouse is exceptional, say no more
The whole experience will set you back around $300, just go there with a mindset of having fun and pack cheap golf balls

Forgot to add:
Hire clubs are good quality Titleist, AP1’s from memory
Greens are a weird leafy thatch, very grainy and take some getting used to
Clubhouse pricing is a complete rort as expected, bring your own golf balls

It's probably the most penal course in Australia. Some holes are just silly.
You will get thoroughly reamed though, so forget about the lost balls and enjoy the views. Easily the best vistas of any course I've played in Australia.
Despite all of that, I enjoyed the experience both times I went. It just has "the vibe".

Its genuinely worth every cent. And like above try and get an early tee time as after lunch winds can be 25+ knots. One of the coolest courses you will ever play.

There was a genuine opportunity here to create another Kapalua, sadly Thommo decided to teach us all a lesson again, like National Ocean a missed opportunity
