38 points at Wynnum yesterday, which I feel that I didn't really deserve. I was absolutely garbage off the tee - the worst in months - and didn't hit one single shot anywhere near where I wanted it to go for the first twelve holes. Quite literally not one shot. Everything was a big hook and/or way out of the toe on every shot. Every fairway and every green was missed and missed by a lot. I played the first three holes down adjacent fairways, and would have on the fourth too if there was a fairway instead of OB.

It wasn't until the tee shot on the 13th that I finally hit a 3w that went exactly where I aimed it. Then I laid up exactly where I aimed it, wedged on exactly where I aimed it, putted exactly where I aimed it (slightly beaten by my read though) and tapped in for a boring regulation par. Did similar on 14 except got the putt for birdie. Only one tiny blemish on 17 where I drove through the fairway too long and punched out but still wedged on exactly where I aimed it and just missed the 6-footer for par. Ended up playing the last 6 holes to even par, with genuine birdie putts on five of those. 18 points in 6 holes.

Handicap still on the way down. Still an embarrassing 16.6 but signs are there of someone who can actually play golf when he gets out of his head actually tries.

Just back from the ladies classic at Bargara
    1st round 89/74
    2nd round 102/87
    3rd round 89/74

One of these is not like the other. May have something to do with the shit tonne of beer drunk on Monday night? Possibly something I ate too.

Most likely the food, Shaz. It is rarely beer's fault.

30 points at Half Moon Bay. Started solidly being only 1 over thru the first four holes. Then had a brain fart wipe, another two pars followed by another wipe.

Really was a day of either good solid golf or utter shite. In the end the shite won out. Not too unhappy with how I hit the ball just need to minimize the damage when I do hit a crook shot.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

    Default WDYSTM - October

Played stroke yesterday and it was soooooooo much fun.

Opened with a double, 2 pars and a birdie before I executed my day with a quad-bogey 8

Further nail in the coffin 2 holes later trying to extricate my ball out of some weeds resulting in a 10.

Finished the front 9 and went straight to the bar and bought a 6pack of Heineken.

The final 9 holes were actually really fun while not really caring, a couple of birds and some great shots thrown in there.

On a positive note the Vice Pro Lime were awesome, really REALLY like them.

Edit: it should be noted that after the quad I pumped a drive up the left side of the following hole- obviously shitty. Due to some slow play I lay down in the fairway chatting to Solarman and got stung 4 times by wasps.

    How good is golf!!!

So was the chat or the wasp stings more painful?

Three rounds on the gold coast this weekend. Haven't touched a club since Nudgee at Qld champs. Thanks Peppas for being on a delayed flight so I could hit 80 balls at golf central before we headed to Sanctuary Cove.

    Friday - Sanctuary Cove Pines: 16/14 - 30.
Highlight - the soaring high draw sky off the 2nd tee into the trees. Lowlight - Peppas smashing driver to A1 position on the par 5 17th, and not taking on the 160m water carry in 2.

    Saturday - Royal Pines Green Gold: 21/12 - 33.
Highlight - 5 consecutive pars from 6 to 10 and being 26pts though 11. Lowlight, knifing a bunker shot on 12 for a wipe, hitting a great baby draw of the fence on 13 for a wipe, and some other shite for a wipe 18. Secondary lowlight - the course.

    Sunday - Lakelands: 20/20 - 40.
Highlight - some great golf off the tee, and with the wedge. Peppas vertical coptor. Lowlights - topping a lot of iron shots (thankfully going straight the fairway every time - good bless Jack and his lack of cross fw hazards). Massive secondary lowlight - the replacement of the "ding-ding-ding" cups with normal cups.

Played a game of 92 on Saturday when my driving and putting was great, but the irons were just going right with every shots.
Went to the range after and sorted out my irons

Started the Sunday game on great start with everything working, irons shots were nice and true today.... Got to the 4th hole and the flies came out in drove and all attacking my face... lost the plot... 7 putted..... yeap... 7 putted from a 4 on to end with 11....

After that... I just lost my putting mojo and everything else crashed and burnt along with it for the day... ended day with 102

To say I was utterly disappointed with myself would be an understatement....

on a plus note... I did learn how to bump and run near greens and that saved a few strokes that would have been more of a disaster of a day...
