Mt Compass, Saturday October 27 12:00 noon (Peppas visit)
Hello SAnkers,
As previously discussed our next installment takes us to the much improved Mount Compass GC (formerly known as Fleurieu GC).
Course has confirmed there will be no coring (anytime this year, interesting), so we should expect the course to be cherry ripe considering the time of year.
I have booked two groups, with the first tee off commencing @ 12noon, hopefully from the back plates (as IMO the course seems to play so much better from the tips)
The local GL comp closes @ 11AM so no luck there however 'Chris' has noted we can play in the Sunday / Mon / Tuesday comp if anybody wishes to for a small fee
Perhaps we should fight it out in our own in-house comp for the red jacket (ala 'mini champs'), lets see how the numbers pan out first
Green Fee (excluding any comps) sits @ $45 per person
1. Peppas
2. TC
3. Wazamac
4. Hatchy Fancypants
5. HP
6. Coalesce (Very dark pencil)
7. Nadg (9 holes only, joining group from 10th tee)
Will decide on groups tomorrow along with any games

Worth playing if in the area, but I'd pick Corowa or Murray Downs over it.
I'll second this.
While it's nice and one to cross off the list it is very repetitive detracting from the enjoyment by the end.
If you looking for a good take your time drive and play Golf trip I recommend the following:
Drive to Mildura and Play Coomealla, Red Cliffs (hidden Gem), Riverside Mildura and Mildura Country Club (my least favorite of the 2)
from there keep following the Murray and Play Barham, Rich River (2x 18's) and Murray Downs (this ones a must)
Head further up the river to Cobram Barooga and play Tocumwal (2x 18's) and Cobram Barooga (2x 18's)
from there keep following that River and do Yarrawonga (2x 18's), Black Bull and a bit further up River to Corowa (27 holes) then on to Albury for Thurgoona.
If all thats not enough head off to the Mornigton Peninsula
There are some smaller ones in between that list and the only one I'd recommend is Cohuna.

Sounds like a great trip Hatch, when r we leaving?
Alternative as follows:
Head down the limestone coast
Millicent GC
Naracoorte GC
Stay @ the barn overnight in OB Flat (Gambie) and dine in at the steak house, the Porterhouse for main and the home made chocolate pudding for desert
Mt Gambier GC
drive for two hours and play Port Fairy GC
If you pumped 2 mill into any of the above courses they would be well inside the top 100 (excluding PF, already there)

Really? So when is this trip planned? I'd be keen (you had me at Port Fairy).

We all have our opinions, but the land the courses sit on, particularly that of Millicent are incredible. Its a budget volunteers course and hence the greens are slow and the fairways have sprinklers sticking out of them, but in terms of land and contouring I am reminded of parts of the Victorian Sandbelt
It has been on my mind for a while, im thinking April sometime

We could do a complete loop, Millicent / Naracoorte, Mt Gambie / P.Fairy, then head to Horsham / Bordertown
It will come down to time of course

Your full subs seem a little on the pricey side compared to other similar tier 2 clubs

In my case, (and I believe the other Vines guys on here), it wasn't so much the cost/fees more the lack of times we were actually playing - in my case a grand total of 3x on last seasons fees

Looks like I haven't had enough time to put these together Don't want to rush these things.

Plays with an ex-hire set
Sorry guys but I may have played my last game of golf for a long time. I was rushed to RAH on Tuesday due to a blocked artery in my leg. My doctors had supplied a referral letter indicating I needed urgent treatment but I was turned away because they had no beds. I am just getting enough blood to the foot via smaller arteries to keep it alive but can't walk any distance at all before I am in pain. Health services in SA are in a crisis. I had to find my own way down to town because there was no RFDS or ambulance available. If you are about to die you might get looked after but the possibility of losing a leg is not considered as critical by our NEW RAH.
Hope you all have a great day at Mount Compass and I hope I can tee it up in the future.

Just got back from another visit to my GP. The angiogram result is worse than I thought. Just so pissed off with the health services. Apparently there are plenty of beds in the system but the Govt. are not releasing money to fully staff the hospitals.
Furthermore my last two games I had 45 and 39 points and all my flags are in the last ten or so rounds. Grrrrrrrr.

Not good Bomber.
As for Peppas and clubs. I have sold most of my spare gear over the last couple of weeks having a clean out.
Won't have much for our glorious leader to play with.
See you guys at the end of the month.
Going to Thailand tomorrow for a bit of Boom Boom!
Ohh................ and maybe some sort of itchy disease.
