    Default 2018 Champs Roundup

Another OzGolf QLD Champs in the books.

Huge thanks the Benno for all the work he does organising these and keeping tabs on everything. Once again an awesome job done mate, and well done on the win.

I enjoyed the weekend, despite struggling with my golf, and having to pull out of Friday's round suddenly.

Many thanks to my playing partners - Bluu Lefty and Timah who I didn't get to play with on Thursday, Bushy Lucastro and Marcel on Friday, BITS Bushy and PeteRS yestarday and Matty3jab, 3puttpete and Courty today. Thanks for putting up with my crappy golf!

Looking forward to the next one!

Go the ugliest putter in the world!

    I'll be in that.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

What can I say? Benno, you are a superstar. Thanks for all your magnificent planning and of course lugging me around all week.

It should come as no surprise but I had the best time again at a Champs. To echo Hacks comments if you’re sitting on the fence with regard to playing in a Champs weekend the sooner you do it the better.

With that, i want to thank everyone that was there for making it the weekend it was.

Thanks to Benno for his great organisational skills. And through all of that he’s also managed to come out the Champ! Congratulations!

Had a great time despite my shite golf. Thanks to all the travellers who make these events happen. Always great to have a drink and a chinwag with you all.

Is that the 1st ozgolf champs where no one has reached 36points in a round over the weekend?

2014 was won by DaveS with 32 and 29.
2016 was won by BITS with 33 and 34.

EDIT: I just re-read what you wrote and my answers above add nothing to that.

The upside is they DSR'd at 75 (Par 72) on Saturday, and 74 (Par 72) on Sunday. Probably the hardest tracks I have played in champs rounds yet.

Could possibly add 2014 NSW champs (Coffs), 2014 Qld (Sanc Cove), 2016 Qld (Sunshine Coast), and maybe 2017 SA Champs (Mt Osmond / RA).

I think I might have had 34 on Sunday in the tempest at twin waters

Holy heck! That must have felt like 44 points.

Thanks Benno for organising the champs week. It takes time and organising skills to come up with a week like this and you did a top job mate! 👍

I’ve got a serious case of the champs withdrawals but life goes on. See you guys at the 2019 champs! 😎

    • Massive thanks to Benno for the coordination of the whole she-bang, flawless once again!
    • Another massive thanks to Benno for being my taxi for the trip
    • Thanks to my playing partners for tolerating my continued Champs mediocrity (Benno_r, Bushy, LeftyHoges, Henno, Ploppy Pat, Jono, Matt3Jab, Nudgee, Shazza_rs, Marcel, Ferrins, 3PuttPete, PeteyD, TheCollective, Peppas)
    • Thanks to SundayHack for ensuring I was no chance of taking home the NAGA toad
    • Thanks to the golfing Gods for allowing me to put together a decent Champs round (even if it was a Monday, and still wasn't enough for a win)

And I'll add my little thing:

Thanks to the courses that hosted us. We had a little hiccup at Kooralbyn, and quite a big one at Nudgee, but everything went smoothly elsewhere. Despite the toughness, I was very happy with the presentation of the weekend courses. Also very happy to tick RQ off the list, even though the greens are brutal.

Thanks for everyone who makes the effort to attend - especially the out of towners and out of staters. This was the best represented QLD champs yet, so thanks again.

Also congrats to daily winners, and also to Jono for a Hole in One at Kooralbyn. By all accounts it was a sweet shot.

I must also thank Snell balls for giving us an excellent deal on the NTP/LD balls. I didnt win any, so anyone who did feel free to let us know how they are.

Thanks also to Pete and Shaz for assisting in balls/trophy pickups, PeteyD for scoring assistance, and Petey and Aaron for the birdy comp.

I was lucky to win at the end. Ron was playing out of his skin on the front 9 at Brooky, and Lefty was giving it a fair shake too. I really enjoyed playing with everyone I got to play with, so thanks to all.

Keep an eye out in the coming months for next years champs announcements. If you have ever wondered what it's like, it's great - you'll have a ball.

PDiddy (almost one hole) - Sorry you had to take off
Timah - Superflusha just a little out of form

    Royal Queensland
Steve - Slightly older supaflusha slight out of form a well
Jono - I'll be giving you a few shots soon!!
Ferrins - Did you enjoy the boat

    Pacific Harbour
Benno - Giving AndyP a run for is money on the bunting stacks
AndyP - Glad I only got to see you ice your groin for 1 round (not sure how this helped your dodgy hip but I'm not here to judge
JDoggle - You'll be off scratch soon mate

    Brookwater
Ash - Maybe you should have started on the jimmy's on sat at pac harbour
SundayHack and Bushy - finally got to see the Kakaaaa bros in action and they didn't disappoint. Great Kakaaa in unison after a birdie!!

Most importantly thank you to everyone who attended event to make it what it is. It was great catching up with old friends and meeting new ones too!!
