    Default Gold Coast

    Hi All

The family and I are moving to Gold Coast end of the year probably around Helensvale/Coomera Waters. Any courses to avoid , membership oversubscribed etc

    Looking at

    Hope Island
    Lakelands
    Glades
    Royal Pines
    Palm Meadows

    Thoughts/feedback appreciated.

    Depending on budget

    Glades is fantastic
Palm meadows have bent greens and good value
Hope Island is always in good nick
Lakelands is up there in price but solid

All excellent courses, which are always in good condition. Palm Meadows would be the exception as I heard it has a pretty full membership and the across the round 9 at Royal Pines is average compared the "Hotel" side 18.

Out of your list, Glades & Hope Island would be my favourites. Both would be at the more expensive end.
I think Lakelands has moved away from a traditional membership, you buy "access passes" for the year which give you a certain number of games.

Any idea what membership is at The Glades? So far value wise looks like Lakelands then Royal Pines.

Glades is around $5k, don't think Lakelands have a membership, it has been changed to pay as you play type of deal.

    GPT
I just joined the Glades last month, great course with about 80 members. Cost is sub $5k with a cart
I was a former member at Lakelands which is a great course but the change of model saw a lot of members move to the Glades. Not use what Royal Pines offers in the way of a membership package. Palm Meadows is a great layout but a very busy course
If you are looking a living around the northern Gold Coast then Hope Island would be the best fit as the traffic on the M1 will drive you nuts getting to either the Glades or Lakelands

Hope Island is always in good nick although im not sure how its membership is going as they bought most of the members out last year. Sanctuary Cove you can get in pretty cheap and you can play both the pines and the palms. Otherwise if you have the coin The Grand is also very good with no tee time bookings just turn up and play.

Royal Pines is $3300 which seems like good value. I'm not bothered by the Lakelands setup as a 40 game membership @ $2400 seems good to me.

    Any love for Gainsborough?

Gainsborough is my course and is lovely. A good layout and in good condition (except for the bunkers). It is far less expensive than the other courses mentioned. It can’t compare to hope island or Lakeland’s as a course but at a third or quarter of the price it represents great value. Just a word of caution though; it can get extremely busy and, with the development in the area and lack of alternative “affordable “ courses nearby there is no sign of this slowing down

GPT happy to take you out to Parkwood, they are pumping money into it big time, both oncourse and around the club house, simulators and restaurants membership with a cart is around the $1900 mark.

I used to be a member at Gainsborough its not a bad layout but was slow last time i was out a few weeks ago.

Arundel Hills is worth a look too, much better than Gainsborough or Parkwood.

How hard is it to get tee times for Sat/Sun comps at Arundel and Parkwood?

Speaking with an ex member of Parkwood a few weeks back, he said it was a shit fight to get on at Parkwood. Arundel was no probs he said, where he is a member now.
