    Default WDYSTM - August 2018

    Threadstarter, again.

A mixture of really good and horrible for me today, for 35 points.

I literally hit half a dozen duffs or sprays, but every time no real damage was done. A couple of times I holed good putts to stop the leaking. Lots of good shots as well, and a holed chip shot for my only birdie. All in all, a pretty good day.

Was looking at raising the bat until I went birdie par on 13 and 14.

96, nett 87. Fast and firm greens, funky pins, strong winds. I wasnt the only one who struggled, with nett 72 winning, nett 75 runner up.

Still, my golf game is appalling.

Played 36 today with Lefty, Courty an DCanto.

Mossman- 4 birdies in a 77 with a weak bogey on the last to disappoint.

Mirage- greens that were atrocious really dampened the day. All four of us shot in the 80’s, I finished 88 (28points).

Tomorrow the City of Cairns kicks of proper so it will be good to get back to ‘real’ greens.

I made a bogey 6 from here on 18 at Mossman. Actually not that bad come to think of it.

    Yep.

We were playing Wolf, I had the ‘kitty’ riding on me and had Lefty and Courty front edge for 2, so I needed a par. Bumped an 8i to the back edge and lipped the par putt

33 points at Mirage Country Club with Bushy, Courty and Lefty. Putted like a muppet but managed one birdie and burnt a lot of edges. I won the bragging rights for the side game of 'Wolf'.

No boasting and no bragging rights for me today.

I actually played better than my 30 point score suggests, but my bad shots kept going into impossible places, including three downhill lies in bunkers to a short-sided pin. I took a total of 8 shots in those three bunkers, and said goodbye to any chance of a good score at the same time.

87 of the best in the first round of CoC.

Birdied the last to fist pump my way to the bar.

35 points off 16 hdcp today. Windy and wet day.
Blew 1 hole. .. a few double bogey.... putting was my saving grace today... distance was off for first putts but managed to save a few 2nd putts. Only 1 3 putts today... Happy with that.

I came second in monthly medal today. 78 off the stick with net 66.
I managed to drive the ball well today but definitely left some shots out there. Doubled the 18th for a 3 over back 9. Looking forward to spring and getting back down to single figures.

MM with Beaconhills , par not stroke , sq /-4 , wiped last 3 holes no handbrake applied just found a new way to stuff up the back nine . Took out a different putter and promptly 3 putted the first but then rolled two long putts on the next two to be +2 no more 3 putts but did miss a couple of gettable putts

First comp game since June 11th due to frickin Sciatica. Was as windy as all get out yesterday and my lack of playing showed on the first, with a shocking hook on the first off the tee resulting in a wipe to kick things off.
It got steadily better with me rolling in 3 birdies on the front nine for 19 points.

Second nine saw the wind get even stronger, which I didn't think possible and my lack of game time started to show. My back and hammies started to tighten up, and my already fragile swing started to fail me.
Finished with 12 points on the back, for 31 total.

It was the best of our group, which isn't saying much, and also nudged my bs handicap out to 9.0 from 8.7.

City of Cairns week has finally finished. I've been rather busy so here's the summary.

Wednesday - 31pts - City of Cairns stableford combined with team ball format - played with Lefty, the head pro and another mate
    Thursday - 38pts - Mossman GC with Lefty, Bushy & DCanto. 4 x KAKAAA's in my 75.
Thursday - 32pts - Mirage Country Club with the same guys. Struggled with the slow, furry greens, but struggled even more to hit them.
Friday - 88/83 - City of Cairns 54 hole Classic R1 - I shat myself on the quick greens after the Mirage round. Swing change blues also plagued me.
Saturday - 81/76 - City of Cairns 54 hole Classic R2 - Started the same way I played on Friday, but steadied as I finally adjusted to the greens.
Sunday - 77/72 - City of Cairns 54 hole Classic R3 - Had a light bulb moment with the new swing & put together a solid round even with the 2 x doubles nullified by 3 x KAKAAA's.

played 32 yesterday... dropped to 13.1 after Saturday's game but gone back up to 13.7 after yesterdays game, since the best game I had 6 months ago dropped off...
After the rain we had over the last few days, the fairways were pretty soggy... was using the TM TP CB yesterday and noticed I was hitting a lot of heavy shots which ended up short compare to the Razr MB on Saturday...
putting was ok, with 2 putts average with 1 3 putts again but missed a few 5-6 feet putts by a little... putting length judgement is better but just need to learn to read the greens better...

Will see how it goes this week's club champ game and the winter cup

looking back to last year's winter cup I was playing off 18.6...
