Round 1 of the Atherton Open this morning with Bushy, Solarman & Tomson.
I shot 75/71 (par 70) with 2 doubles. Not sure where that puts me overall, but I’ll probably chop it hard tomorrow so it doesn’t really matter.

Some good range time this week in prep for two weeks of Club Champs. Coming off 5 stroke rounds in the last 2 weekends with another 2 weekends to come it’ll be interesting to see what my cap is for QLD Champs.

Round 2 this morning. Couldn't get any love from the touch around the greens & shot +8 on the front. Steadied & shot +1 on the back for a 79/74.

Ugh.... stupid putting is back now.... finished Hartfield winter cup with a stupid 31 points with 5 3 putts today and missing 4 easy putts at less than 5 feet..

Got pissed off and went to Collier park to hit another 9 holes this afternoon and scored 39 off 9 holes... go figure...

12/08/2018, Tamborine Mountain GC, OZgolf Explorer Challenge.

Another few months off playing, despite intentions of having the occasional round. The rust was evident early, but I was keeping out of trouble off the tee. Topping the ball seemed to be the main issue. It was a very scratchy first nine holes.

The putting had been okay, until a really bad putt on the 8th, threw the confidence out. An easy missed par putt on 10 actually helped me to re-focus on my putting for the rest of the round with good results, lipping a couple of birdie putts, and nabbing one. There was still the occasional dodgy shot, but the back nine was significantly better. It was pretty satisfying to play to handicap on the back nine.

    1 birdie, 6 pars, 9 bogeys, 2 others.

Stableford at Keysborough this morning, 19/14 , 1 birdie, no 3 putts , two wipes both on back nine ( both lip out putts ) putting was better chipping was better , driver and 3 wood were very inconsistent good shots were good , bad shots were terrible eg 100 mts along the ground , had no idea at times

28 points (13/15) at Reddy Bay with PeteyD and had my standard of only scoring on 2/3 of the holes (6 wipes exactly; 3 each nine). I actually feel like I struck the ball better than I have since the 'comeback' for the most part, too.

    Horrible highlights:
8th: Piped 3h 250m+ arrow straight down the fairway.... and lost. Wiped the hole.
9th (Par 5): Third shot in, 60m wedge, flew the green by 5m, caught the downslope (and probably something else)... ball rolled somehow rolled OOB and left. Wiped the hole.
11th: Last round I hit driver and pulled up heavy a bee's dick short of the creek. Took 3w for safety. Striped it. Straight in the piss. Drop, wedge stiff, putt. Took par with a penalty. Boo-urns.
17th: Second shot shank straight across the 7th green and into the water. Wiped the hole.
18th (Par 5): Striped driver, 10ft behind the green for 2... on the green for 5 (read: flub, flub, chip). Took 6, for my only 2 pointer on the back nine.

PeteyD hit them as well as I have seen him hit them. 34 points and had 7 excellent putts that burnt the absolute edge without result, and 3 of those putts genuinely should have fallen in the cup were it not for highway robbery. He had two birds on the front 9 and a few more chances than that, just missing an easy bird on the last too.

As mentioned above i had 34 today including 2 four pointers. Putting was frustrating. Just off enough to miss makable putts. But after many poor rounds it was nice to put something together. Was dead on trees a couple of times which cost me.

I think he was referring to where the 17th's Shank went.

Correct. That is the 7th. I'll edit to correct the historical record for future generations.

It was a pretty impressive shank.

Ah indeedy. It would be an interesting shank to make the 8th green.

    That’s it

The 250m shot straight down the fairway on 8 confused me too. I didn’t think it went that far before the turn but that’s probably because I’ve never hit it 250 or straight.

You're right, it doesn't; you run out of short-cut fairway at about 230-ish, which is about the distance I normally play this club to. Somewhere from the 250 or just past is where my ball sat down, but the grass is thicker there so despite our best efforts it couldn't be located right in front of our noses.
