Default PAWGUST - Fundraising for Guide Dogs Australia

As many of you are aware, I have been doing volunteer work with the local Guide Dog association, after they provided my father with free occupational therapy, when he lost half his sight in 2002.

During the month of August, my dog* and I will be walking 30 minutes a day for 30 days (that's roughly 2km every day which is no small feat in the winter weather!) to improve my health and raise vital funds for Guide Dog puppies in training. One day, these beautiful pups will change the life of someone living with disability.

    * One slight problem, I don't have a dog, so ...
I've built a bracket for my Bagboy golf trolley and will wheel a 'retired' collection box dog around the local streets each day in August.

    Paws sincerely,

    Dotty

p.s. Click on the above link and give generously (or I'll park my collection dog golf trolley in front of your house).

    Much appreciated.

If I could work out how to use a camera phone, then I'd put up some pictures. (I'll forward a link after a social media interview next week.)

It is an Australia wide event for all ages, so feel free to register yourself, your dog, cat or kids, if you want to do it in your local area. (All funds go to the state Guide Dog association of the registered entrant.) Details and FAQs on the PAWGUST website.

Unfortunately, ClicGear don't have the large dog money box bracket on the 2018 accessories list.

Pat yourselves on the back, as through OzGolf donations alone, we sit fourth on the national leaderboard.

I took the collection dog for a test walk this morning, just to make sure he/she won't bounce off the trolley onto the road (and feature in social media fo the wrong reasons).

I realised I have an advantage over the other entrants in rain. I have an umbrella holder, a bottle holder, a sand-bucket/poo-bag hook (except this dog poops gold coins) and no wet dog smell, when we get home.

Thanks again and more news next week.

Not much different to the bloke in the doorway outside Wynyard Station.

But instead of a shopping trolley of VB cans and old jackets, there's a large plastic dog.

its all about what you are wearing though...

Hobo jacket and a business shirt with shorts is my favourite.

Close ... Golf shirt, business trousers, old grey hiking shoes with new white laces and an orange T-shirt over the top.

I don't have a camera. I'll get a picture, when someone I know doesn't cross the street and hide their face, when they see me approaching.

If you're ever caught with a full poo bag you'll have some explaining to do. #poojogger

It should be attached here, but I have no idea about getting the rotation right. (I hate computers that don't use EBCDIC.)

I've also updated my avatar with a better photo of the Bag Boy Collection Dog trolley, and put a few more pictures on my Pawgust page.

    Thank you for your support.

One day to go, and my 15 minutes of fame is on the Guide Dogs website ...
    https://www.guidedogs.com.au/news-ev...gust-challenge

Couple of hurdles along the way (PAWGUST was not an approved website at my worksites and my previous club just hit golfers with a $750 levy to upgrade the clubhouse for wedding receptions), but it has been a fun four weeks.

p.s. Back to normal volunteering on Saturday with a drive across Sydney towing Gulliver, the giant guide dog.

PAWGUST is on again, and I've dusted off the collection dog on the golf trolley.

I'm a bit late getting started (as usual, work, golf and volunteer work gets in the way), so it will have to be an hour walking the 'dog' around the neighbourhood each day for the rest of the month ...

    https://www.pawgust.com.au/fundraise...driver/pawgust

As a bonus in 2019, you can leave a suggestion for the dog's name in the donation page's comment section.
