I'm a bit confused about the question, as I don't understand how one person in a group can be in a strokeplay comp, but another person in the group is playing a 'social' matchplay game. If it is a social matchplay, you play whatever rules you agree upon with your opponent.
If it is somehow a matchplay comp event being run in conjunction with a strokeplay comp, which very occasionally can happen if you have qualified in advance for something, there are probably published rules of the comp that cover it.
With none of those things applying, I wouldn't think there is a rule against it, but it is very unfair on your 'caddy' to be trying to concentrate on his own game while assisting you at the same time.
If I was your opponent I'm not sure I'd agree to it. What's to stop the 'caddy' deliberately playing his ball to a position on the green where he gives you a line on your own putt?
"There are 50 things to remember in the golf swing. Trouble is that I can only remember 49 of them" - Bob Hope.
It's this. bd would have qualified from the matchplay championships, and the club tends to make you play them during the Saturday comps following the qualification. Some people even play the strokeplay comp while playing the matchplay. It's stupid, but it ensures that the matches get played in a timely manner. Personally, I've tried to avoid it and organised the match for another time, even midweek.
No. If he is reading putts or playing shots, then providing you advice after playing his shot, there is an unfair advantage that I am sure someone with better understanding of the rules of matchplay could explain. Technically if he is your caddie, then his clubs may also be counted as your clubs so there are penalties applied for more than 14 clubs.
I would not recommend it.

Advice
During a round, a player must not:
- Give advice to anyone in the competition who is playing on the course,
- Ask anyone for advice, other than the player’s caddie, or
- Touch another player’s equipment to learn information that would be advice if given by or asked of the other player (such as touching the other player’s clubs or bag to see what club is being used).

Which one of those rules it out? bd isn't in "the competition".

Who would voluntarily caddie for an insignificant social match, when he should be focusing on his own comp. game?
Doubly so, for the club involved allowing social players within their comp fields, and turning a blind eye to playing off different tees.
Add it to the list why we have 5 hour comp rounds.
You don't get me. I'm part of the Union.
We have our Round 2-6 matchplay rounds taking place within the normal JAFSS rounds. It doesn't slow up play significantly.
However, you can't play in the JAFSS comp, win an NTP etc, whilst playing a round of the matchplay.

I misinterpreted the 'I won't be in a comp'.
Run it past the club's match committee, but I would say not allowed, as there is potential for the caddie to test each green, if he putted before the matchplay player holed out. (Ditto for playing out of a bunker.)
He could easily be penalised in the stroke event for getting advice, if the player gives any verbal feedback to the caddie's advice. e.g. Player says that it will bend more than what the caddie thinks.

If you can caddie for someone on the same comp later that day, I can’t see why you couldn’t caddie for someone who isn’t even in your comp.
We had this tried at our course..
The 4 marker played the course in the AM.. and then tried to Caddie the back nine for the C grader mate in his comp.
Got shut down real fast !
In reply to most posts here. It was more for the extra enjoyment having my mate caddie then going full blown caddie. I.e talking about what shot/hole is coming up. Was not interested in him reading putts.
Will most likely be in a cart so him carrying my bag isn’t needed.
By the sounds of the responses I’ll just leave it all alone.
With regards to playing off different tees. The only 2 free times I have to play the daily comp is off the back tees. My opponent wasn’t to keen on having to play off the back if we could help it
