Get well soon, DP.
I've always liked Mona Vale, when I've played it, and I hope it goes well for you.

I left my old club 5 years ago (still a social member) after 43 years of active membership.
I think the period of doubt about whether this was a really good idea or not was less than a fortnight.
I pay twice as much for golf now, and my cost per round is a third of what it was.
If you can afford it and have the time to play every week, find the best club with the best course with good membership culture that is relatively close to your home. You'll enjoy every game. Of course, if you are time limited due to family or work commitments, then the choice is more difficult.
Bumping the thread, as I was invited back to my old club yesterday, for the first time in four months.
Runner-up for the medal by a stroke, so old course definitely plays easier than the new course (despite a slope of 10 points higher).
Inside the clubhouse was a scary reminder. On a men's comp day, a third of the members bar area was taken over by tables of senoir ladies playing bridge, when the morning field were finishing and the afternoon field were buying stuff before going out.
<insert political correctness gone mad emoji>
I wouldn't tolerate this at a local cafe or pizza joint, let alone a premium priced members club.
p..s. And I did get asked a lot, and the answer was 'No regrets'.

Just the usual anomaly between slope formula and green size.
Penno has small greens with lush kikuyu surrounds. Just miss a green and the ball stays there, leaving a straight-forward putt or a pitch off a nice lie.
Lynwood has large greens, but contouring and cooch rejects 'B-grade approaches' often leaving a longer, tougher reovery shot. Even if the approach stayed on the green, it is a long tricky putt.
Doubly so, when considering the wind blocking effect of Penno's large trees in a valley vs. the total exposure to the Hawkesbury Plain winds at Lynwood.
