    Default WDYSTMonth - June 2018

After not playing golf at all in May, it is appropriate that I start the monthly thread for June.

Nothing special for 32 points, but I was very pleased to be back on the course and hitting some good shots.

At one point I had hit four greens in reg for two birdies and two 3-putt bogies. Swings and roundabouts.

Did very similar in olinda’s medal , went 15 / 22 off 8 . Had 3 pars 6 bogies first 9 when cap is 6 pars 3 bogies ( missed four par putts 4’ and under , left two birdies in the jaws) no 3 putts tho . Second nine was 8 pars 1 bogey sank all putts I should have , 29 putts for the round ,birdie putt on 18 wobbled towards the hole and then away and then back agai to finish behind the hole , and as per normal I missed the medal by a shot , 41/37 nett 70 , winner nett 69

    Olinda monthly medal.
First round in 3 weeks, hit it ok but couldn't buy a putt.Ended with 34 putts but solid lagging putting.I think I went 18/13 for 31 points, and possibly 87/76.Just 1 poor shot every couple of holes seems to be the difference, and also need to see a few putts outside of 10 feet dropping as well.Very confident with anything 4 foot and under.I was also holding NTP on the 3rd,but we were first group away☺

Second shot on the 4th,yeah just stuck that into 30feet with a PW iron punch.NTP would be hard to beat,15 feet from 176m pin high.I almost did the same on hills 6th,hit it on then watched it check spin off the front. Was a good shot but I need to learn to take spin off

You were fortunate on the 4 th ,my ball bounced thru the back from pin high and Tim didn’t realise there was a marker there and said he was only a couple mts away , nearly got you on the third also but ball pulled up pin high on the right fringe

Well done PD. Good luck for the next 3 rounds.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Nice work Pete. Net 70 was the best score both days, on a very tough set up. Nice bounce back from our Friday hackerthon!

Thanks guys. Hopefully I can go better over the next few weeks. Was not that happy but surprised that lower scores didn't come in as I left a fair bit out there. Was a significant turnaround from a very poor Friday round.

    Go Petey!

I had a mixed day. Lots of doubles and triples, but birdied the 3rd to pick up 2 in the eclectic, and eagled the 13th for another shot picked up. I regret changing putters the morning of the round, as my 40+ putts would attest.

Anyway won $30 in prizes for NTP and Eagles nest, and extended my 2018 eclectic lead to three.

    Monthly Medal.

Nice double from the middle of the fairway on the first hole of the day tempered the warm up where I was striping it. A birdie and another bogey through 12 holes had me feeling slightly better.

    THEN....

Snap hook off the tee on 4- double
    Short sided on 5- bogey
Barely up against a tree resulting in a chip out on 6-double
Knifed pitch across the green on 7- double
Fried egg then knifed into the piss on 8- triple
Fairway, green, lip out, tap in on 9- par

Btw, started using the 18Birdies app and it’s a ripper.

Highest I have scored so far over the last few months.
    30 and 33 points of 16 handicap.
Putting is improving but still lots of work in progress.
Will be playing pennant over the next few weeks so hopefully will improve a little bit more then

    Onya PeteyD!

Monthly medal stroke at Queenscliff on Saturday. 89/70

    With an 8.
    and a 10.
Equated to 41 points with two wipes (one of them on the only hole I get 2 shots on) if it had been stableford.

    Who doesn't love golf?

On the bright side, I shot 40 on the back 9, and played the best I have played in ages, and it looked like I scraped home for the B grade win even though the medal went begging by 3.
Still not playing enough GolfLink | Slightly less terrible stats brought to you by Golfshot - F: 57%, GIR: 23%, UD: 14%, P: 34. Wow, improvement! | Nickent brand ho or tightarse? You be the judge!

    soooo....

Back from work this week. Tuesday was Hervey Bay, Wednesday was Maryborough, and today was Gailes Dingo.

    2 word summary: Shit Golf.

In continuing my massive slide to double bungers, shot 10/18 28 at Hervey, 18/15 33 at Maryborough, and Nett 80 in the dingo. Driving bad, Irons awful, short game and putting pretty good - stopping this becoming super embarrassing. Managed to avoid anchor, due to anchor sliding with the changing dates.

You know it's bad when my hoing desire is almost non-existent. I think thats my version of golf depression.
