    Default Music streaming services?

We have a family subscription to Apple Music, and am thinking of giving Spotify a go instead.

I'm the only non Apple person in the house and the Apple music app on Android, while getting better, is still a pain. And I can't use it on my tablet.
My daughter just bought a Google home mini and a couple of smart bulbs and Apple music isn't a default music option for it. Only Spotify or Google Music, and I know they won't go to Google Music.

Has anyone used both Spotify and Apple music; which do you like? Spotify will work better for me, especially with my tablet and things like Android Auto. But is there an easy way to migrate playlists over, and even a while library? Apple music does have more live music for me, but I think Spotify has enough to keep me happy.
    Just wondering on people's thoughts?

My wife wonders what will happen in our car; once her phone is connected it automatically starts playing from Apple Music. Can we make this happen with Spotify or is there a way around it?

We use google music. They need to be deprogrammed away from the Apple cult.

I use Spotify and couldn’t be happier.

Easy to use platform, great catalog.

I love the recommended playlists that it sends me each week.

Yeah, it's those sort of things I'm keen for, hoping it makes it easier to find new music. I get a bit stale listening to the same things. Also would like the option to queue music up as I find it.I was more than happy when I had a Google Music subscription, but I couldn't justify keeping it when the others wanted Apple music and getting a family subscription. Ain't never gonna convert the sheep!

Spotify seems to have a much larger catalogue than the rest.

Their collection of foreign music list are pretty good too.... surprised by their large collection of C-Pop, K-Pop, J-Pop too (if that tickles your fancy)

Every Monday, they create a "Discover Weekly" playlist that is based on my listening habits. I've discovered a lot of new music through that alone.

Cause Apple is restrictive of 3rd party apps being set as default apps! They probably get half their subscriptions by people who can't be bothered, and the other half are like me who can't be bothered paying more to keep away!

Are apple family accounts linked where one person’s listening affects the others?

    No, they're completely separate.

Mrs is finding Spotify clunky and unfriendly so far. I don't know how much it changes with premium, but on her phone she can't add a while album to a playlist, yet on my android phone I can. Have to get the free trials going and see how it changes.

I will miss being able to upload my own material into the actual Spotify service, like I can with Google and Apple though. Will have to put them in my phone. And I do like having free streaming with Telstra and Apple music. But no biggie.

I love Spotify and would be lost without it and well worth the $17 a month that's for sure!

Well, giving it a go. Took a while to rebuild my album library. Will have to learn how it all works. Like, what does it do if you "follow" an artist, rather than say have their albums in your library?
What the "+" means next to a track, considering it is already in my library and in playlists? The "+" also appears next to songs in Android Auto, and when I click it it becomes a tick.
Just discovered that when you add songs to a playlist that you may have downloaded to your phone, it auto updates and downloads the new songs for offline play! So it's already kicking Apple Music's arse because I had to manually re-download my playlists to get them all on my phone.
Also something that caught me by surprise - I have a number of albums that don't appear in Spotify, so I've added them to a specific folder on my laptop and pointed Spotify at that folder for local content. But I expected that I'd have to also manually add them into my phone, but last night when I downloaded my first playlist, all the songs from my local folder that were in the playlist also downloaded to my phone! Awesome.

I was addicted to Pandora and almost cried when they shut up shop in Australia. Awesome service. Lately I've been trying out jango, which seems OK. Not as fully-featured as spotify, but it's pretty basic.

I like them both but I’ve been Apple Music from the start. The main advantage for me is data free streaming when on Telstra. Once Apple Music started I reverted my Spotify back to free. I still use it occasionally at home but Apple is just as good.

Data free streaming on Optus is the main reason I use Spotify.

Although I still use the native apple podcast app
