Default 2018 QLD Championships - Brisbane

    Good evening fellow Ozgolfers,

I would like to welcome you to the 2018 Ozgolf Queensland championships in exciting Bris-vegas!

The prestigious Duncan Bennett Memorial Trophy will again be up for grabs as golfers across the country compete to be Qld's top Ozgolfer. Will you be able to defeat last years Champion, LeftyHoges, and get your name on the converted trophy?

Kicking off Thursday 13th September, and finishing on Monday 17th September, we aim to bring some of QLD's finest golf. The best part is we are paying the weekend fields during club championship season, so the courses will be as premo as they get.

    THE GOLF:
Thursday 13th September - Kooralbyn Valley CC: http://ramadaresortkooralbynvalley.com.au/golf/
24 spots, 11:40am first group. Carts included. And since we like to hit the ground running, we are entered in the famous "Copperhead" Back Marker challenge.
$75 inc cart and prize fee

Friday 14th September - Royal Queensland GC: http://www.rqgolf.com.au/cms/welcome/
28 Spots, 10:00am first group. Walking only. Also includes the terrifying 2-ball Banana Cup best ball multiplier
    $170 inc prize fee

    Saturday 15th September
    - Pacific Harbour GC: http://www.pacificharbourgolf.com.au/golf/
28 spots, 11:45am first group. Carts, comp fee and pre-round burger included.
    CHAMPS Day 1
    $90 inc prize fee.

    Sunday 16th September - Brookwater GC: http://brookwater.com.au/golf/
28 Spots, 10:30am first group. Carts Included.
    CHAMPS Day 2
$125 inc cart and prize fee

Monday 17th September - Royal Nudgee - North Course: http://www.nudgeegolf.com.au/welcome/
16 Spots, 8:20am first group. Walking or Carts - 4 carts booked
    $45inc prize fee. $40/cart

    The Prizes:
Long drive / Multiple NTP for balls every day. Daily cash prizes for 1st and 2nd (and maybe 3rd), overall podiums, and best gross. Value TBC, but the champ usually walks away with $400+.

    ACCOMMODATION:
Bookings start Thursday night, through to Sunday night at Arena Apartments in vibrant West End: http://www.arenabrisbane.com.au/

Close to eateries, cafes, breweries - seems like a great place to let Bushy loose every night.

I have booked 4x 2bed room apartments - 3 in queen + 2x single config, and 1 with 2x singles in both rooms. Prices are:
    Solo room - $110/night
Share room - $55/night per person

    And the fine print:
    1. You will not be considered as entered until you supply your Full name, club and Golflink.
    2. Deposits (min 20%) to be paid by end July. Remaining by End August. Late entries will be accepted pending availability.
    3. All rounds for championship purposes will be scored as stableford.
    4. We do this for fun, so don't be a dick if we don't quite have what you want, or you don't like it.

Payment by bank transfer - Please leave your user name and QLD as the message ie "QLD - username"

IN. Friday-Sunday. Flights booked just waiting on Benno to give me a cost. I have rented a car as my flight gets in at midnight Thursday. Happy for someone to jump in if they need a ride to and from golf and to Airport Sunday arvo. No payment required. Catch is you're driving so I can enjoy copious beverages whilst playing each day.

We have 4 more spots for Friday, and 3 for the weekend, so get on board locals (or interstaters for that matter)!

Heck, I have been procrastinating over this for long enough and I feel like I need to make a comeback now that Ferrins is in.

I'll play (read: chop) Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Payment will be incoming as soon as I am in front of a computer proper.

Stuff it, might as well go all in like poker at Champs 2009 (only to be done by a runner-runner that blew Shavey's mind... and my winnings.)

So I'll play Thursday too, if there is a spot. Seems to be on the table above? No Monday though because 'reasons'.

Your 5w V-steel flushed off the tee on the 5th at Pacific is one of the top OZgolf shots for me.

Certainly is a spot. so you are in for that too. I understand Monday, didn't expect a large local turn out. Just 'cause.

I still have that club, still steel shafted and all. I should bring it for old times' sake.

Excellent. My 'few weeks old' swing might be a 'month or two old' swing by then. Plus, with a few decent 'played-to' rounds from 2010 about to drop off I should have a nice shiny new handicap. Love this new system.

OK gang, 3 more for Friday - RQ - Qld's best track. 2 more for the weekend.

With a bunch of bushrangers and scalliwags. Where else would you want to be?

So in itself, the best ball multiplier isn't scary. Basically, you multiply you and your partners score for the hole. You both score, your team scores. One person wipes, the team wipes.

Where it gets terrifying is it's a random draw for your team mate. Some poor sucker will end up with me.

You might get lucky and get a left handed partner, if you're playing shite swap clubs

Could be worse, I ended up with Solarman last year.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

I could play off 6 for the fourth straight year at the Qld Champs, because I'm so consistent.
