Default Can you recommend three courses on the Sunshine Coast?

    Hi there!

Just going for a three day golf trip up the Sunshine Coast. What three courses would you recommend? Any hidden gems off the beaten track?

Looking to drive as far north as Hervey Bay. Courses with views of the ocean would be welcomed as long as the course is a decent test.

    I play off a 12 handicap.

    Many thanks!

    Jafa.

Maleny and Maroochy River for two. I can't think of a third that stands out from the pack.

    Thank you, Andy.

I'm seeing Maroochy River in quite a few lists. Also Headland seems popular too. https://www.headlandgolfclub.com.au/

    You played it?

Maleny is a must play, if only to marvel at some of the stupid design decisions there.

    Hmmm...is that a recommendation?

The poster above has also recommended Maleny so it must have something going for it!

I like Maleny even though there's a couple of blind shots. Maroochy River is a decent track.
I have played Headland years ago, from memory I enjoyed it but it's too long ago to remember specifics about it

Mate was a member at Mt Coolum, haven't played it for a decade, can recall enjoying my game there.......which was a surprise. No idea of conditioning these days.

    In no particular order

    Maleny
    Maroochy River
Bribie Island GC (not PAC Harbour)

If you skip one of these and play somewhere else you’re missing out.

You need to play Noosa Valley, its very popular with Ozgolfers. Bring a carry bag, and a kid to walk around with you.

This would be my list too. In that order actually. They’ve just redone Pelican Waters so it might be worth checking out too. It’s always been a pretty decent resort style course.

Interesting, maybe a VIC Champs might go back there at some stage for a reminiscence...

I've played Headland plenty of times. I think they have been doing some work lately, on bunkers from memory, so there might be a hole out of play. It's nice enough, but you could throw it in with the other members courses around like Caloundra, Mt Coolum, Tewantin-Noosa.

Maleny has its quirks, but you'll have to make your own judgement on whether it is good. Some people hate it. The greens are very sloped and difficult, but that is to protect the shortness of the course.

Bribie Island and Pacific Harbour (also on Bribie Island) are two of my faves. Tewantin-Noosa might be the pick of the non-resort courses. Pelican Waters is pretty nice, but I'd rate it below Pac Harbour.

I haven't played Maleny, but will try and get there soon to see what the fuss is all about.

I could get on board with this. An UCW at Maleny would be incredible.

To be fair, they bypassed Nambour 25 years ago.
