Default What did you shoot - April 2018

Unlike the posters reporting their last rounds in March a day or two late, I played my first round in April today.

I'd forgotten the joys of public holiday Monday golf. Fairways and rough not mowed since Thursday, so the length of the grass made the fairways seemed a bit like the rough. I think the greens had been cut, so that wasn't so bad.

Did that worry me? For the first three holes it did, but then my entire game clicked. Even my putting. 39 points was the result, and leader in the clubhouse when I left.

30 points today, replica of last round really.

Tee to green, virtually flawless. Chipping and putting, worse than useless. I lipped out 5 times including 1 that actually came back out from the same direction it went in. Also had 4 putts that finished half a roll short in the heart of the hole. Chipping was disgraceful. Watching me chip must be like watching someone chip who has never played the game before.

Could have been a serious round.

Went out yesterday in the slop and pissing rain and from the start I was regretting it.

Huge high cut off the first into the piss, lost grip on the club after the second but got up and down for 5/1. Cold topped it off the second then hit the next 2 in the piss for a wipe. Wow...wtf was I thinking.

Then played solid for the next 7 holes for 17 points. Played even better round the back with 2 birdies and a wipe for 20 points.

37 points with an NTP on 8. Won a grand total of $12 thanks to the field being 9 idiots strong.

Speaking on behalf of all of us when I say your people have put the wheels in motion, and it's only a matter of time the two of you can one day complete the dream.

Gotta love or hate this wonderful game of golf. After a very good day on Monday, today was everything Monday wasn't, with a final score of 29 points.

My last four rounds have been 38, 28, 39, 29. I'm hoping this progression means my next round will be 40 points.

Stab at beacy today , for most of the day I thought I was in Brazil . However I did sink two putts one on 7 for a 4 pt bird and a five footer for a 4 pt eagle 🦅 on 14 .20/ 18 for 38 pts with a wipe on 18 , bladed chip followed by a 3 putt . Cost me $30 in our side bets too .

Monthly Medal at Half Moon Bay this morning. Started off solidly and made birdie on the par 5 6th only to follow it with a quadruple bogey on the next.

Struggled to get back on track after that and ended up with 86 net 73 (par 70). Was only my second comp round at HMB as a member so I'm slowly starting to figure out / recall where you can get away with a loose shot and where you can't.

With both my boys playing junior soccer this year golf on a Saturday is going to be a big challenge due to the timing of their games for their respective age groups. Gordonvale doesn't have Sunday comps whereas HMB does (as well as 9 hole comps) plus HMB is closer to home. I'll still visit RoyalG when I can but for now I'm happy with the change.

You'll just have to have a hit at Half Moon Bay at discounted rates instead. 😁

I gave up waiting for Solarman to restructure the membership at Cairns so that there is a class of membership that allows play on a Saturday but for a limited number of rounds. I'd be very tempted to come back to CGC if there was a membership option like this.
