DSR confusion
Howdy all,
The course I regularly play at is Par 70, Scratch Rating 67. On the weekend, the highest score in the Par comp was +3 (there were 2 of them) yet somehow the DSR fell out of the wash to be 66 (equiv to +4).
So no one, not even the comp winners, played TO their handicap that day, let alone beat it.
How does that work...? Has anyone ever seen this situation at their course..?

I should add that I have tried (and probably failed) to understand the DSR math formulas, but one thing I thought i did take away was that the result had to lie within the bounds of the field - ie, it couldn't be lower than the best score, or higher than the worst. Is that assumption wrong..?

That was true of the old CCR (which simply established the field's 12.5% score), but I have read nothing along those lines to do with the DSR.

Small fields will affect the dsr , I find it strange the dsr was lower than the winning score , was there a lot of +1 +2 scores and very few minus scores ?

A field of 20:
- Max +3, Min -6
- 9 players +1 or greater, 2 AS, 9 players -1 or lower
- Median AS, Mean -0.7
Not sure what's weirder - the +4 DSR, or that I remembered how to figure out the median.

You can’t work out DSR because you don’t know what the previous million rounds were.
