Default What did you shoot March 2018

Stableford on the hills course today 36 pts (20/16) off 7 , strange sorta dirty day , one under after 4 , should have been 3 under . Had the driver and irons working pretty well all day but screwed the chance of a good score up . Had two four point birds and missed two others from less than 2 mts . Had a couple 3 putts , got knocked off for ntp on the second by someone in the last group .

Well done for starting the monthly thread on the right day, Grumpy.

Your score is still leading. My 35 points was my best score for a little while, but basically the same stuff I have been delivering recently. The only difference, which explains the slightly better score, was that I made a sand save instead of a sand disaster. Two shot difference right there.

I also got through an entire round without a double, but it is a bit early to bump that thread.

First hit for the month off, at Maryborough. Played well, except for a wipe on 5 and a silly chip on 17. Snuck in 2 birds - a chip in on 2 and a nice putt on 8. Turned with 20, picked up 22 on the back for a lazy 42 (7 over).

Reverse farming for Vic champs, but I am ok with that. Guy I played with nailed 6 birds for a 41 of 6. Good day all round.

88/70 in medal today. 32 putts. Bit of drizzly rain for the first half. 2 birdies and 2 triples. Mostly up the middle but when I strayed off line it hurt today.

99/83 in the mm at Queenscliff today. Consistency personified. Made my first par for the day on 16. Had a doubles match play on the side, and we won somehow. My 29 cap retired bunter partner (fantastic old bloke who makes Dotty look like a massive bomber) knocked a chip in from about 80m for a 5-point birdie on the 4th. My opposition mate had a gettable birdie putt, so I reminded him that if he holed it he would make 3 and still lose the hole. He was not impressed.

Ditto. It should be a close match.

And I practiced getting a 7 on the holes that you could birdie.

You may have relinquished the captaincy but you're still setting a shining example.

Monthly Medal this morning. I picked up where I left off from Wednesday, sitting at -2 after 5 holes. I finished the round out with only 1 bogey on the card... shame about the 5 doubles though

86/70. 37 points. First time I would have broken handicap in I don’t know how long.
2 dodgy holes, plenty of good in there.

Today was a tale of two halves in the slop in Monthly Medal. Out the gate ok until a cheap bogey and an even cheaper double on 13/14 followed by softies on 16 and 18. The back 9 was complete opposite. I missed only 2 greens, barely missed or lipped out all except one of those birdie tries and made a double on the 4th after coming up short in the quagmire. End result is another flag which will mean I now have 8 flags in a row at the top.

76 off the tips with some soft bogeys and a missed birdie on 18.

Happy with that score but another what could have been round. Just need to hole a few more putts!!

Nice work in the muck Bushy. Maybe you and Courty should pray for rain in Vic. Make it seem like home.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
