Did a Dean Elgar and ran out of partners today. Big storm hit Queenscliff, complete with a big scary flash of lightning that was waaaaaay too close for comfort. Waited for 5 or 10 minutes to make the call, storm seemed to abate but the rain was steady. 3 partners pulled the pin, but I was happy to keep going in the rain as it wasn't really cold. I checked to see if anybody else was coming up the fairway but everybody had gone in so I had to give it away.

I had 18 points on the board after 10. Strangely enough my golflink shows that score - is that the way the score should be submitted if you walk off due to weather?

Won nearest the pin on 9. Almost drove the green on 7, 15m short at the front and made 6 after blading a wedge.
Still not playing enough GolfLink | Slightly less terrible stats brought to you by Golfshot - F: 57%, GIR: 23%, UD: 14%, P: 34. Wow, improvement! | Nickent brand ho or tightarse? You be the judge!

    Here was my round today.

10th played with Johnno at Cabra and to make home feel at home started the day with a topped driver followed by scungy iron and made a good bogey.

The par 5 11th missed the green with a sand wedge and the chipped it 8 foot pass and made the one coming back.

    12th. 5i from 165m to about 30feet. Easy 2 putt par

13th. Johnno was struggling so I topped it off the tee on 13 to make home feel better, but made par.

14th knockdown cut 7iron to about 20feet. Easy 2 put par.

Johnno still was struggling so I topped it off the tee in 15 but hit a good 57m wedge for my 3rd for par. Still he wasn't quite feeling great

Birdied 16 with PW to about 5 feet.

Sprayed drive on 17, but got away with it and hit a good wedge in for par.

Bombed a drive up 18 and hit 9i into above the hole. Missed the sliding 10 footer, but made par.

Bombed it up 1, hit a knocked wedge to about 8 feet for birdie.

Smoked hybrid off 2 and hit another PW to about 15 feet. Made par.

Smoked driver off 3 and 134m to the flag and hit to about 6 feet. Missed nother above the hole slider but made par.

Hit a low scungy driver off 4 that went through the fence OB.

Reload and couldn't save a double.

Missed the 5th with a knock down 8i but got it up and down for par.

6th. Hit it right off the tee. Got lucky with enough room under a tree to move it forward so that I had 145m for my 3rd. Hit a good cut 6i to able 25 feet and made par.

    7th 8iron to about 15feet for par.

8th. Pulled my drive slightly left and it was in the 2nd fw. Hit a high cut 8i over the trees from 100m to about 20 feet another par.

9th. Smoked driver down the middle but it took a big kick off the fairway to under some trees. I only had 60m left but had to hit it low so I punched a pw to about 25 feet for another par.

    Stats:

    39points off 5.
    2 x birdies
31 putts over with no 3 putts
    13gir

    Lost 0.5 off my handicap.

Par comp yesterday in some very strong winds. After a slight change to my swing a few weeks ago, my ball striking continues to improve. i think I've found an extra 20 mtrs off the tee and at least 5-10 with most irons.

But my chipping and putting yesterday sucked BALLS, I mean sucked Balls, I was missing puts from 3 feet.

Finished 4 down, which in wind like yesterday, I'd probably take. By the wind didn't really affect the ball flight, it was my short game. A decent putter would have comfortably had 3 up.

All is not lost, but a putter change may be in order.

Yeah he played badly too, I just putted pretty well most of the day which saved me.

Also I birdied the one hole I had to give him a shot on too which helps.

Tuesday stableford at Beaconhills today , a while ago I shot 24/12 and thought that was some sort of record. Seems I was wrong, 22 pts after 8 holes ( 1 under) , wiped 9 th then had 8 points on the back nine , so 8 pts over last 10 holes ( had a 3 pointer in that ) the couldn’t be f....cked did set in after a few holes . Only thing I can use for an excuse was my trolley broke on the second and had to carry my bag till the 9 th and I was struggling a bit by then

Good Friday Stableford comp today. Still preferred lies, and extremely tough with 6 inch rough... searching for plugged balls all day. Limped in with 28pts after wiping the last.

Singe Stableford again this morning... conditions no better than yesterday.
I hit the ball a bit better today but my short game was sharper. 34pts.
