Default What did you shoot: February 2018

I went & played at Mirage Country Club in Port Douglas today with a few mates.

What a strange round that was. I was even par for the 6 holes I get shots on (2 birdies, 2 pars, 2 bogies), but 12 over on the "easier" holes.

    91/81.

2 8s, a 9, a crapload of 5s, a birdie, a failure to reach the ladies', a shank, a few helicopters, lost balls, rain, no rain, wind, no wind. Today had almost everything.

Played at the The Springs (aka Potato Farm) today in some rainy conditions. 22 front 9 followed by 15 on the back for a total of 37pts and won the comp. Back 9 included 2 x 3 stabs and 2 x shanked chips, winning!

    Monthly Medal

Bought a F6+ off Ricky Prowler last week, used it on a social hit the other day, kept it in the bag. Also gamed the Scottie X5 I picked up a couple of weeks ago

Started ok, didn't have any luck early, then missed a couple of short putts to be just about out of handicap on the 7th.

Back 9 was slightly more consistent, and a birdie on 14 brought me back even for the 9. Was sitting in great position on 16, then shanked a sandwedge to make an awful bogey. Finished par par to shoot 37, and run 5th in A Grade and 5th best score for the day.

    Back down to 5.7

99/83 in the rain at carbrook. Some good stuff but equally as much junk.

NTP on the 16th (75cm) was the highlight of the day.

Played Lakelands GC for the first time today... came up 34 points off 15 hdcp. Blew 3 holes and all caused by my hook drive into the trees....

Otherwise... Played ok... took the chipper out of the bag and man upped... finally understood the concept of gripping lower and standing closer for the chip.... actually did a fair job with a 9 iron chip and run finally....

Get nice and close on those chips, Joe.

75/72 for me in medal with 9s of 41&34.

Bogied an easy par 5 on the 34 side as well.

Cap went from 2.9 to 3. Love the new system.

I can't figure out why it took me so long to get the "A-ha!" moment... was just browsing through the typical youtube videos and saw this pom guy simple video of stand closer, grip shorter and lift the club handle up ...
I always tried to maintain the same head address when doing a chip and run which always buggers me up....

I guess I would have learned quicker if I had taken a chipping lesson instead haha

Liquor Industry Golf Day Ambrose 74/64.5.
I was the only one that had hit a golf ball in a year.

Highlight was 6 Inches from a hole in one on the 14th West. Other than that, a great day for kids charities.
