The only problem I have with tomatoes is that Australians don’t know how to correctly pronounce the word.

If we can't correctly pronounce it, then we aren't supposed to have it.

Same goes for diptheria, emphysema and Munchausen's syndrome.

Think what he is trying to say though is a bit like pubic hair he prefers none to get in the way of what he is eating.

This thread receives my full 1000% consented approval.

Can someone please answer to me why this is acceptable? Why do we have to specify in great detail which options on a menu are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, wheat free, lactose free, contains peanut, should only be constructed and consumed by hipsters, fat free or just basically fun free, yet we don't have to specify the actual ingredients that will be put into a product that I am purchasing and consuming?!?! Why tomato? Why not horseradish? Why not turnip? Why not celery? Why not alfalfa??? When did this shitty thing that doesn't even know if it's a vegetable or fruit become so socially accepted that it could just be randomly placed into meals without having to say it's in there!?!? I'm having a similar battle with my local pizzeria about ****ing onion on an Aussie pizza, but that's a discussion for another time....

You might say I'm overreacting. Just pick it out and eat your meal, you say. To you, I say "**** off". I ordered a meal with ingredients specifically listed on a menu, because of not only the ingredients that I like being in there, but also because ingredients I dislike, wait for it,.....

    ARE NOT ****ING IN THERE!!!!

Question: How would you like your ham and cheese toasted sandwich that you specifically ordered because of those sole ingredients to be coated in ****ing smashed ****ing avocado ****ing?!?!? Just scrape it off and eat your meal, huh? Not ****ing likely.

For the record, my aversion to all things tomato started at the age of 3, when I was fed a cherry tomato. I can picture it clearer than 99% of the things that have happened in my life. It was a sole cherry tomato, fed to me while I was seated on my mother's lap. It went down ok, tasted a little weird, and I was not a fan of the slimy texture, but I got it down. 30 seconds later, and I'm a 3 year old boy in the midst of one of the most powerful streams of projectile vomiting you've ever seen. Vic Champs 2013 x some number that hasnt been invented yet. And it would. Not. Stop.

Tell me now that you'd want something on your meal involuntarily and unlisted that caused you that sort of reaction.

I do say that this is a QLD thing, but as Andy has pointed out it has now crossed states, plus the fact that I don't get out much (mainly for fear of bumping into wild tomato roaming the streets and forcing their way into my steak, bacon and cheese pie and chocolate milk), means it may be common than I thought....

Please people, for the sake of humanity, stop accepting this bullshit practice and speak out against involuntary tomato. #tomatno

The problem with your analogy is that it's presuming that I've in fact NOT paid for the lovely cloonge in question to have a Brazillian prior to my consumption, when in fact you are sorely mistaken, and I've most definitely laid out my hard-earned on a specific predeliction towards the most baldest of snappers, in the anticipation that when I tuck into said meal, that it will in fact be smoother than a tomato skin, ironically.

Default Tomatoes: Get out of my food

Thanks for sharing, Lefty. I hope people are starting to understand the message now.

I don't expect this thread to be at the top of the list, but I hope when members next have a meal with a tomato wrongness, they think of this thread, and help steer this country in the right direction.

Given the passion both you and Lefty have showed for your chosen cause, I trust your "right" outcome occurs.

Often there is the law of unintended consequence, where in this case, tomatoes are now at the front of people's minds. Punters start requesting tomato where none exists and extra where it does, promoting a new wave of tomato sides.

We need to build a wall around every kitchen.

And we'll make the tomato growers pay for it.

You're missing the point, no one cares about tomato sides dishes, we just don't want tomatoes in meals when it's not been specified on the menu!!

You just reminded me of the worst of all ... Tomato on Banh Mi.

It is just wrong to ask whether their Pork Rolls have tomato.
It's like asking whether the Laksa comes with fries.
