8. Glen Iris Public Golf Course - Another old haunt that I used to play alot 20 years ago during Uni time.... Good memories... but seems to be shorter than what I remember before...
Recently heard some people complaining about the condition of the course. The fairways were in pretty good nick, and the greens were actually pretty nice... bit wet when we first teed off, and we did find the grass around the cup were slightly uneven that would just push the balls away at the last minute... but once it dried up, it was slightly better....

Good post, okitoki. This just listing courses in a post is boring.

it's a bit bland. Aside from the last par 3 (downhill over water), there is no real wow.
Course was in decent nick, greens are pretty good (I think they are bent). Got it on an iseek deal for $50-$55 with a cart, was worth it for that.

9. Collier Park (Lakes and Pine) - Another old haunt that i used to skip uni to have a quick round with my mates.... Recently bought over by the same group who runs Wembley. Already noticed improvement made to the pro shop and the bar area (Used to be able to buy beers from the front, but have to buy in the bar now); Bar lady told me further improvements will be made to the back of bar and the front area too.
Course seems to have improved alot since I played last year. Greens are in much better condition with the grass growing pretty evenly, and the fairways actually look really nice. (remember it to be pretty sandy around the edge of fringes)
Can't wait to see what other imrpovement will be made.... if they can do what they did to Wembley... it would be awesome as it is right next to where I live

10. Pinjarra Golf Club - After yesterdays strong wind and heavy rain in the morning, managed to get some good weather but still windy for the Pennant game at Pinjarra.
Nice course, pretty flat but some hidden water if you never played there before. Not too long, but narrow fairway. A few holes doesnt really punish you as wild shots lands you in the next fairway that allows you have a semi decent recovery shots. Was pretty surprised even after the days of heavy rain we had. the course wasn't soft and not many plugged shots.
Green wasn't too fast, but my putting just didnt help with the match....

11. Meadow Springs Golf and Country Club - Supposed to be the pennant game at Mandurah GC yesterday but ended up being reserved for the day; Game was finished by lunch time, but was itching for a game; Since Meadow Springs was just around the corner and didnt want to waste the hour drive down here so decided to have a quick practice for next week's game there. was surprised to be able to get a public game on a Sunday afternoon.
Course was pretty.... seems pretty wide in the beginning.
Fairways seems nice and hard so I was getting some good rolls there. a few of their par 5s seems to be reachable for me in 2, so the longer hitters should be easy. Big greens, so plenty of long putts.
Once you get to the later holes, you will start to see the roughs are those fluffy short native grasses, balls will be easily lost in there. I was hitting 3 balls, and managed to loose a few of them
Only downside, I didnt see any sand buckets around the first tee, so there were plenty of divot marks around the fairway. greens plug marks were not repaired, or bunkers were not raked. came across a few groups of public players (one group had 5 players in it) so that would explain the condition of some of the bunkers. Fortunately they all let me pass through.....

Sure mate. I agree typical Florida is average. BUT. Streamsong is fantastic. I only played Blue and Red, but Blue reminds me of St Andrews Beach (both by Doak), on more open land. Red is a better course in my opinion, as it has some great dunes / water land on the front 9, and the back 9 felt like I was playing the Sandbelt. Both play firm, and allow plenty of options to get to the green - aerial, bump and run etc. They are also built for walking (which I did in the Cairns like weather each day), with a lot of holes have a 10m walk across grass green to tee. Although the course is very un-American, the service is not - eskies with water all over the course, marshalls running cold towels around, great halfway houses etc.
Pasa is very different - green complexes are superb (being Mackenzie). The front 9 layout is ok, nothing too wow. The back 9 layout is probably the best 9 holes of golf I am yet to play. The land is amazing, and the creek(s) come into play on 6 of the holes.
If you were looking at a few days of golfing, Streamsong would be an excellent choice, 3 courses, accom, multiple dining options all on site.

Thanks mate, sounds like a good option if I'm ever down that way, Doral left me a bit flat as did all the stuff around Orlando.
I liked Pasa as well, just wish they didn't have so many houses on the course on the front nine.
