Hoping to get a chance to play a couple of gippsland courses over the next month or so. Obvious front runners are Leongatha and Yarram. Anyone got any other suggestions down that way?

Foster is not bad and if you are venturing further East, Lakes Entrance is a must!

Nice! I never bother with golf when OS, but maybe I should have at least one round in Vienna.

Some courses (China) are ridiculously overpriced and not great condition. The caddie thing takes time to get used too as well,

My eyeballs were popping out at the cost of the rounds that wbennett had in Vietnam. Are they that much better than Barnbougle to be worth a round?

Mrs Henno's work does a yearly conference that all partners are invited to (all expenses paid) and this year was Cambodia. Sadly, I had to cancel due to Commonwealth Games commitments but some of the prices for golf were unbelievable, considering how cheap everything else is (and how poor the country is in general). It really seems like it is set up to get the uber-rich Chinese to part with their cash.

I would think the target audience of most of the golf courses in SE Asia would be westerners.

In hindsight, you are probably right.

I just feel that the cost of golf indexed to the local economy would have worked out at many thousands of dollars per round. It was many hundreds as it was.

Maybe not so much just westerners - factor in place like Singapore, Korea, and Japan. Not sure of the ratio, but there were a number of Koreans when we went to Mission Hills.

I actually found that most SE Asia courses were full of Chinese/Korean and Japanese golfers with only a smattering of westerners,

They do love the whole 6 hour round plus 3 hours at clubhouse setup,

Has anyone played Portmarnock recently? I am heading over to Dublin in October and am looking to have a hit there, but wonder a bit about both the weather and course conditions in mid/late Autumn.

Look at me go!! Five courses, with none in Brisbane.
I am enjoying playing different courses at the moment, but I should probably get out for golf a bit more than what I currently do.
