In the unlikely event that I can't find working wi-fi in Paramus, New Jersey, I'll officially advice the Ozgolf community that I leave Australia tomorrow, with an eventual destination of the Northern Trust Open, between August 23 and 27.

I have my tickets, and I will be attending all four days. I'll probably go to the pro-am as well, but I'll wait until I get there before I actually decide to do that. From what I can tell, there isn't much else to do in that part of New Jersey, and even though it is only 30 miles from New York, without a car it is quite difficult to get to New York from there.

My plan is to follow at least one favourite golfer each day. Namely Phil, Bubba, Patrick Reed and sweet swinging Louis O. I figure that between those four and just hanging around all day I'll see at least one shot from every player in the field.

I'll be wearing a red shirt every day, a Ballina GC bucket hat on Thursday and Sunday, and my treasured Ozgolf bucket hat Friday and Saturday. I'll do my best to get on TV, without causing embarrassment to Australia, Ballina or Ozgolf.

But I will not be yelling inanities like 'mashed potato', or anything else for that matter. Polite golf claps is more my style.

Assuming wi-fi does work, I'll try to post after each day of play.

Any info you can pick up from locals about Bethpage and trump ferry point would be most valuable Jim.

Enjoy your trip. Fair winds and following seas.

Even if I saw Ozzy Osbourne I wouldn't yell that. I know Jimmy Barnes is a golf fan,but I don't know about Ozzy.

Pro-Am day at the Northern Trust.
An absolutely wonderful day. I followed Phil Mickelson, he shot 62 and won the day. Far more impressive was the way he interacted with everyone. Talked to his amateurs all day, cheered them on when they hit good shots, posed for every photo when asked, even said thanks to some marshals who were just doing their job.
I was a bit disappointed he didn't play any Phil golf. He just striped it down the middle all day.

No. One of his regular uniforms of black shirt and grey trousers.
I can advise that the rough is very deep and there is no second cut. It is also a through the air course,so the straight hitting elite ball striker should be favoured. A shorter hitter like Kisner or Molinari is just as likely as the usual suspects like DJ or Brooks. Forget the bomb and gouge guys. There is no scoring from the rough. They had spotters on every fairway to help find the ball.

Day 1 (version 2,a short one). My other post was rejected by the system and it wasn't so brilliant that I am prepared to replay it in full.
It was a really good day and I watched Rafa Cabrera Bello shoot 68.
I will be wearing the Ozgolf bucket hat and a red shirt tomorrow.

Every day feels like a Sunday for me at the moment.
I followed Casey, Na and Stanley today. There were an even 10 people in their gallery including Kyle Stanley's partner. Casey went 4 under for his first nine and 7 over the rest.
I can also report that Jason Day's wife is even more gorgeous in real life.

Is the US style golf (as you described, through the air) boring in person? I'm assuming it's not by your posts. I've usually enjoyed all the golf on TV in the but find the US stuff really boring to watch lately. Just curious how it translates in person?

No. He seems to have overcome the problem he used to have. Patrick Cantlay has a similar problem.
As for the play, it's quite exciting. Live golf is very different to t.v. golf and you are only watching one group of players so it isn't repetitive at all.
The downside of live golf today was that idiot US fans are much more irritating in real life. It was bad today.
At least I saw a guy thrown out for heckling Bubba Watson.

Final Day Report. A brief one because the tournament itself was an anticlimax.
Big crowds again so I just picked a few good viewing spots and watched all the players come through.
