    Default 2018 PGA Tour

If only they had more cameras over at Monterey Peninsula CC or Spyglass. Two supremely superior golf courses.

I've never played MPCC but I agree that Spyglass is a much better course that has lots of variety and tests more of your game especially being straight off the tee.

    Interesting that you say that.

Golf Digest surveyed 81 pros and Pebble Ranked 4th in terms of the top courses on tour.

The other two didn’t rank in the top 10.

    Are 81 pros wrong?

Yep. 100% wrong. Most overrated golf course on the planet.

But we know from experience that pros like places where they play well. Not overly great at the whole architecture thing.

I would say both are right - what the pros might like in a course might not be the measure of a good golf course.

The thing that people who’ve never been there don’t realise is the 7 holes on the coast are absolutely spectacular whereas the others are really very ordinary. The other thing is the camera towers are positioned not to show the course but the view.

Each to their own but I may go back but I’ll never pay to play.

You’d be inclined to think that most pros would have a pretty good idea of what makes a decent track.

I don't think it says anything except that likes and dislikes in courses of that calibre are just subjective. Neither is right or wrong. It's just a personal preference.

The Fried Egg doesn't agree with you.

I don't have an opinion, and I don't really care. I'm too mystified as to why there are always so many people (and their dogs) on the beach while this event is on. Usually it is about 12 degrees and a strong breeze blowing, but the beach is always packed. They aren't sneaking a look at the golf for free either (which is what I'd be doing).

I got to the coverage a bit late today, so I didn't see any of the so-called celebs, but I've already set the red record button for a full coverage experience tomorrow. I'll probably have a full whinge tomorrow, also.

It's a bad week for golf on TV. Not only is the Pro-am on TV a waste of great golf courses, Perth hasn't been much better so far. More coverage of quokkas that of birdies. You can tell that WA Tourism has a stake in that one.

I would say few do. Look what happens when they try to design them.

Spyglass gets pillored by the GCA guru’s! MPCC is much liked!

I’d like to see them back at Cypress tbh but that’s probably never going to happen.

Sadly no. But it is the course I want to play there, not that I am likely to get a chance.

I've not played Pebble or Cypress but they both look as boring as each other away from the coast. Might he a different story when you play them of course.

    Richard,
You could not be more wrong about Cypress Point.
The inland holes especially around 7 to 10 are amazing!
You don’t be a top 5 course in the world with a run of crap holes !

After having Jim Furyk, Jason Day and Ben Crane on the Players Advisory Council, Spieth and JB Holmes are the obvious examples to carry fwd the good work, I'm sure we can get to 7hr rounds.

As an aside, nice to get a peek behind the facade and realise that these blokes have a bit of personality.

Did anyone notice how Dustin Johnson didn't shake Ted Potter Jr's hand after Potter won at Pebble Beach?

I read that he was sick.

Not sure if that’s the truth, but a decent explanation.

Hopefully that's all it was as it wasn't a good look.
