Brad Faxon must have given him one helluva putting tip.

    So so good to watch.

I too can’t warm to Bryson. He seems to take an eternity. I get that he’s the mad scientist but still he was painful to watch.

Doesn't look like it took long for Rory to lose it. I didn't see the match but I bet he's surprised about getting beaten after last week. I hear he was 5 down at one point. Is that right?

Just won. Probably got on the gas and it’s only Wednesday. Wouldn’t surprise me if he turned it right on tomorrow morning.

DJ was the surprise. Only 3 birdied between them and DJ was woeful.

One of the problems with the early coverage is that there is so much golf happening that the TV can't cover everything. So you only see highlights, and you can't get a sense of why one player is beating another.

After a big weekend of league and cricket watching, I found myself with two days worth of matchplay golf to watch. After a lot of x12 fast forwarding, I've watched most of it. I actually ignored the final because I knew the result and the score.

But the earlier play was well worth watching. There was some absolutely terrific golf played, and a few of the matches were great viewing when the TV coverage had the opportunity to tell the full story. Kisner/Kuchar was a great match, so was Watson/Harmon and The Barn Rat v Thurston Howell the Third.

Kisner was a surprise, partly because he had missed a few cuts in a row, and also because he is a much shorter hitter than some of the bombers. But when in form he hits it straight (and long enough), and he is a great putter.

The venue is perfect for matchplay golf. It didn't favour any style of golfer, except perhaps those who putt really well. I hope they stay there for many years.

They might need to look at the scheduling though. Two weeks before The Masters isn't the best time to possibly play 120 odd holes in a few days. Sergio and Justin Rose apparently skipped for exactly that reason.

And, while it is notable that DJ hit a 489yd drive (downwind, downhill and hit the cart path), he didn't win a match. Distance isn't everything.

Correct. My apologies. I've watched so much of this in one big session that I'm struggling to remember it all.

It was Henrik who skipped because he thought it was poor Masters preparation.

Anyway, while I'm back here I may as well think out loud whether this event may have any bearing on the Ryder Cup. The commentators seemed to think Kisner had played his way in. Bubba was already in the top 8, but he'd be a certainty now. Has Poulter done enough?

He's a head case just like McIlroy. Jason Day on the other hand is starting to look the goods again.

Surely I’m not the only one that thinks JDay has eased up on the training a bit? Not looking as ripped as recent years.

I assume his back problems are a limiting factor now?. He doesn't seem to be hitting it any shorter though.

I think he's trying to bulk up for a weight loss challenge thing

1 thing I do have on Jason Day and that is bulk “weight”. He is batting out of his league if that is the case

Yep, he said that in the press conference today. He was doing body building stiff and said he looked great, but it was crap for his back and golf.
