I know it will be out of my price range, since it is not worth paying $500 to protect $200 worth of clubs, but what brand is it?

Andy, I’ve been using a cheapo one for maybe 8-10 years. Sport line or shot line - the bottom corners are only now just starting to get worn. I’ll take a pic when I get back to my accommodation- I’ve got it here in Albury.
It has always been nothing but solid.
BUT
The trick is how you pack your clubs. Always heads in first, always heads off where possible, umbrella in the middle, wrap it all up in 2-3 towels with a strap around it.
I’ve never had a breakage doing it this way.
Heads first puts all the weight at the bottom which balances it out and stops dick head baggage handlers dropping them. Weight on the wheels.
I travel with clubs all the time and I find it to be the best.
I’ve got another bag with heaps of padding and fancy wheels but its actually sh!t compared to the other one.

Thanks, Bushy. I have travelled with my clubs many times over the years with my cheapo bag without any damage, with the use of towels, umbrella, broom handle, etc. I must have been taking it to Darwin, which would make it comfortably over 10 years old. It doesn't have wheels though, which makes it tough some times. I've only done the clubs upside down thing once; and it was a PITA to get the clubs back out.
With more restrictions and charges these days with the baggage on flights, I was just considering an upgrade to be able to pack luggage in as well. A kind member has offered to let me borrow his nice bag, so I'll see how much I like that more than my current setup. I suspect that I'll be on the lookout for a good bag soon after the trip.

imagine a rectangle one, and it opens just like a suitcase, one side is for the golf bag, the other side is for clothes, and 3 compartments that have net type zip up cover to hold them in, just like the lid of a suitcase.
i am surprised its been obseleted and nobody else made them, its a good idea - just a little awkward as there is a bit of loose weight that rides on top of the golf bag.
airline regulations that limited golf bags to clubs/shoes/12 balls is all but eliminated now.
once this one dies - its maybe 10 years old and easily flown 50x (not that much of a FF but each trip is often 4+ flights) and its only got one signs of wear on a corner. I will probably just get a larger size cover, a small bag, and use a bunch of those plastic ziplock bags that you roll up to squeeze the air it. and just shove them all round inside. Makes for extra padding too.

Criticism doesn't bother me, as it means I am doing something and people are watching.

Anyone rocking with the Sun Mountain glider bag?
Seen some good reviews, although they're not cheap!

Hybrid Travel Bag
Has anyone come across a Hybrid Travel bag like this Eagles and Birdies one? as its now obsolete, and have never seen anything like it.
Has a separate sections for clothes, can fit about a weeks worth of gear plus the golf bag.
I dont want to buy an old one, just need to find the price of similar item for an insurance claim replacement value.

I reckon Courty would have something that does this, but he doesn't have it listed in his WITB.
Maybe something like this in the Ogio range.

Your next best option is packing cells.

Good point, I will add it now!
FWIW, I have that exact bag, just in a different colour. To my knowledge Eagles & Birdies haven't made it for some years now. It cost me $160 in 2015, if that helps.
