They're all in the HOF except for IBF. The worst of them was Miller whose career was twice as good as IBF's. 2 majors among 35 professional wins compared to IBF's 1 and 17.
By any measure he's not in their league as a golfer.

Doesn't mean he wasn't deserving of the win just because his career wasn't as good as some of the others.

Its almost a shame they have kicked Turnberry off the rota, as Jenkins could have kicked Stuart Cink with the same sledge.
Or a major returns to Baltusrol and he slaps Lee Janzen.
Its hardly confected outrage, its just the internet giving him a slap for a thoughtless comment.

Why? Because I don't agree with you?Nice trolling.
Nothing to do with agreeing with me. If your take away is IBF didn't deserve to win rather that IBF is not in the same league as the others you clearly have problems with comprehension.
"How can a course that provided such winners as Palmer, Trevino, Miller and Watson also have given us Ian Baker-Finch?'
How else is that meant to be taken other than a stab at IBF? Why not include Thompson or Harrington or even O'Meara in the conversation? Of course it is the American obsession with names (particularly American names) and NOT the quality of golf being played. There is no doubt the other players mentioned had better careers and may be in the HOF but why does that take away from the way the Open was won in 1991? Again, losing site of the way it was played by focusing on WHO was playing. Dan Jenkins is usually a classy and insightful person in the game, he is well off the mark in this case.
By any relevant measure IBF had the best Open ever at Birkdale. To have him in that group of winners is a credit to him, not a blight on the others or the course.
Weather (wind) looking a little better. Shame its not going to be really hard and bouncy.
You beat me to it Bushy. Still, it looks like it is going to blow enough to test how well they can control their ball, and their emotions. I have put some money on Henrik, I am hoping the break through will release the flood gates for him. He is an exceptional cool golfer when he is on his game, and a cool dude with it as well.
