Default What did you shoot? - July 2017

Started the new financial year with nice even 80 - 8 -72 in the Monthly Medal, double and triple on the front nine put a blemish on the card.

Starting a new financial year is nothing to celebrate for me, but I'm sort of celebrating after a very strange game of golf today.

35 points sounds a bit dull, but I missed one fairway, which is really good. I missed 16 greens out of 18, which is really bad. 1 3-putt out of the 2 GIR, which is really bad. 1 out of two sand saves, which is about average, but that was by missing a 3 footer and holing a 20 footer. 8 out of 14 up and down chances, which is really good, and I missed two other 3 foot putts in that.

Still, much more good than bad, and it was a nice day.

First hit in about 4 weeks...pretty decent front 9 (17 points) but went MIA on the back 9 (8 points).

Upside is that I should get at least 4 rounds in next week due to having a few days off work, so something good might happen.

I played with the Navy Social Golf Club yesterday at Cairns GC. I finished with 40pts, including a wipe (1st), 2 x 3-putts (1 for par) and a hitler. Still enough to win by 1 shot.

Single Stab this morning but couldn't back it up. A couple of balls in the piss and 31pts.

30pts for my first comp at Pacific. Hit it ok off the tee, didn't make any putts, kept leaving myself 5 footers for the return putts, or get up and down. 1 wipe.

    30points
    35putts
    64% fairways
    33% greens.

    33 points yesterday. Quite steady
3&2 up in today match play for the presidents trophy. Wish I could say I played well but having to give 5 shots to my opponent, I just stayed out of trouble more than he did.

First taste of links golf in Scotland at Murcar links and the verdict is - course 1 me 0. Not a long course but very unforgiving . Started with a par and thought pffft this is a piece of cake, quickly went double double and limped to 10pts on the front 9. Improved on the back for 17pts. Bad scoring but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Well I had big intentions of playing 18 holes, but after having 55 shots on the front 9 I figured I was doing more harm than good so gave up after 9. Managed 15 points somehow. A par each on my 2 stroke par 5s helped. An 11 on the par 4 5th did not. That included 2 drops from unplayable lies and a lost ball. Stupid game. Might try and finish the 18 tomorrow

-7 in par comp at Warragul, started with two pars so +2 after two . Lost the plot after that but was good to be back out on the course

33 points this morning at Richmond. 16/17.

Hardly hit a green in reg as I tried to work out what my swing was doing, but putted well enough to avoid wipes. Went -1 over the final 4 holes, which probably helped in me somehow earning a ball in the rundown.

Flagged round, cap drops from 9.1 to 8.9.

I was going to play tomorrow but will probably head into the city instead. So Friday @ Windsor is next up.

Played 9 holes again today, after a 55 yesterday, had a 43 today, totalling 26 points I think it was. With a 5 pointer birdie 3 on the 9th. My consistency is killing my game

I am hosting a very important Ozgolf visitor at Ballina tomorrow, so I thought I should get in a warm-up to sharpen up my game and provide some last minute instructions to the greenkeeper for tomorrow's course set up.

A totally honest 36 points was the result. Lots of good, but a bit of bad as well. 2 birdies, but three doubles means I can't start posting in the doubles streak thread yet.

Not much value from a handicap farming perspective either. This will be another flag round.

Got 12 holes in yesterday afternoon. A bit squelchy with the showers moving through but did get this snap of a rainbow as viewed from the 17th

I Finished with 35pts this morning, but disappointed to not go better after turning with 20.

Exactly the same for me today, including the disappointed part. My playing partner, who is sometimes a man of no words, only numbers, had 34.

The weather was perfect, my playing partners were good company, even 3puttpete, I hit the ball well. It was a good day.

74/68 - 39 Points, solid round with the exception of a double and a 3 putt.
