Once you go yellow, you will never go back
Bloody hell this course looks hard. I don't think I'd break 150!!!! Looks brutal!

It does look mint!
A couple of bets have been placed. I'm doubling up on the guys who won me money at the Masters. Paul Casey and Thomas Pieters to finish top 10. I've also got Marc Leishman for top 10.
I'm going to wait until after round 1 to have a wager on the possible winner. If DJ is in front I'll load up on him, if Jason Day is within a few he is worth a wager, as is Mr Spieth.
If the rough is as deep as they say, I may put a bet on for longest time taken to play a round in US Open history. If some of the hacker sectional qualifiers have to do the walk of shame due to lost balls, it could be a very long day. Is there a market for number of provisionals hit during the round?

Day and Scott joined Rory in saying the whiners may already pack their bags and go home...
The Fly overs suggests this is very visually intimidating course off the tees. A lot will be defeated by negatives thoughts, even before they hit the shot. Hard to gauge how wide the fairways actually are?, but lots of slopes to potentially run balls into the 1st or 2nd cuts. Weather, particularly wind will be a big factor you would think, but it is a Links style so I guess that is given.
It reminds me of a course on the European Tour, but the name escapes me. A Euro style of player like Rory, Rose etc should do well on it. Thomas Bjorn comes to mind for some reason?
Absolutely LOVED Rory's comments in his press conference re: cutting back the fescue and those complaining about the rough at Erin Hills. Pretty much said "pucker up, butter cup". Very well said, very well explained, and the pros complaining about the rough should take note. By the way, I think Erin Hills looks fantastic. Scary from a lot of the tees, as Daves said.
I should caution you guys about going off topic, but I'm making a slightly off-topic post myself, so carry on.
The 2015 final round from Chambers Bay is being replayed right now.
With two years of hindsight I will now say Chambers Bay was a terrible course as a venue. The greens were just awful. Rock hard and bumpy, and far too many putt-putt style slopes and backstops.
If they go back there I dare say the course will probably be presented differently.
I think I might switch it off before DJ reaches the final green. I'm not sure I could watch that story unfold again.

Jim the USGA have already admitted that they made a mistake with the greens in the week before. If you excuse the greens I think it was one of the boldest and best US Open courses we have seen in a long time.
Erin Hills can be just as good if treated the right way.
Looks like they've got very little to whinge about as far as the course given the state of the leaderboard as of right now.
Adam Scott already missing the hole from inside 2 foot.
So far I've seen more adds than golf.
Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
Day and Scott stinking it up.
Rory in the Fescues should take his own advice, pack his bags and go home.
Kevin Na the whiner playing well.
C'mon Leishman!
Not often that JD is more or less propping the entire field up.
