    Default Jimandr V Brad

    HI all

Just going through the Matchplay Results sheet and was wondering if you guys have set a date for your game?
Will it be at the strokeplay round or do you want to wait until the other half of the draw is at the same stage and hold a NSW Matchplay Semi-Finals Day.
I like the idea of the having a seperate semi-finals day and then to do the same for the Final, but it is up to you guys to decide when and where to play.

We briefly discussed this a couple of weeks ago, and decided that there was no rush to play our game while the other half of the draw was a round behind us.

However, as Andrew and Matt will be playing next week, we should start doing some serious thinking.

My first preference was to play the game at a course we both knew and were familiar with. I think it adds to the fun when you know the types of holes you give/receive your shots on. But I've thought a bit further about that, and it narrows the choices a bit.

While Brad and I both know Carnarvon, I've already played two matches there this year, and I don't want to play MatchPlay there again. If Liverpool was in good condition it would be ideal, but I understand it still has some temporary greens, so forget that one.

I'll send Brad a PM with a couple of other suggestions. If necessary, we can wait until he is on holidays in late July, then play a midweek game somewhere. Otherwise, the Kooindah Waters game might be an option.

Brad's weekends have suddenly become free, so our game is likely to occur in August. At this stage either Saturday 12 or Sunday 13 might be the day.

Stay tuned for more details as they come to hand.

I thought you are playing the Holden Scramble with Grant on Aug 13.

Took me a while to find this thread. But find it I did.

Jim and I have been in negotiations (well tossing dates about) and I'll wait for Jim to agree to my suggestions before posting it. Or maybe he can.

Edit : I don't want to cause Jim to miss out on HS

Nice to see I'm in such demand as a Scramble partner/opponent.

The Matchplay takes priority for me, but a solution has been found that allows the best of both worlds.

Our preferred date is Saturday 12 August, and the venue is none other than Macarthur Grange!!! being one of the few places with an open comp on a Saturday.

Time has yet to be determined or booked. More PM's to be sent to Grant and Brad.

Assuming we can get a full booking of 4, who would like to join us??

I have looked at the book for you guys, not looking good for anything before 10:40. I say 11-11:30 is your best bet. If you want me to book it, let me know as I am playing there tomorrow. I will add myself to the group so you get to play as guests of a member($39 instead of $50).

In his latest PM Brad has made the mistake of saying words to the effect of 'any time is fine by us'. My preference for late starts is well known, and my scottish heritage means I'm always looking to save money.

So, I think we go with an 11.30ish tee time with Grunt as our host and fourth player. Grunt and Amanda and Brad could play a Bathurst members comp in conjunction.

More PM's sent just to make sure.

Understandably, Brad has left it to me to announce the result, which was a 6 and 5 victory to Jimandr.

Brad's game was right off the boil on a course which probably suits me more than him.

I was 1 down after one after Brad holed a 30 foot monster, and again one down after 3 when I had a real shocker. From that point on I played pretty well, and Brad had lots of shockers to present me with the game.

So, the NSW Matchplay final is Jimandr versus Andrew. As Andrew is usually a weekday player, and I'm not, the final won't take place for at least another six weeks, until I can get a day off during the week. Lots of time to build up the tension.

Congrats Jim! Sorry I couldn't pull some game together to make it harder for you.

I did play well on a couple of the last 3 holes (not that it mattered by them - even drove to within 10cm of the centre line on the last fairway) and that will be enough to bring me back for the next game. I'm better for the experience and can't wait until next year!

I think Jim will make a great repeat champion, & I'm looking forward to seeing the 'three-peat' in 2007.
