Played Victoria yesterday.
Simply amazing layout and course. Not a bad hole on it

Even better experience if you play twice, stay the night, have a beer out of the pewter mugs in the bar and have dinner.

Would happily play there every day for the rest of my life.
In my top 3 of all time.
Mate of mine just left (the super) he did some incredible work, going to be interesting to see what the next guy does. its improved/changed out of sight over the past 20 years.
Was the 1st back in play?

I'm amazed how you can remember golf holes, I can't even remember the ones on my home course!

Yet to play RMW, I am sure it will top Vic.
Tough split between KH and Vic for me Original_Benno. Need to play them both again but I think I found Vic a bit more fun. KH was a stern test, however maybe as close to a flawless course as I have ever played. Probably a 5/5 split

Because you are wasting mental energy on the course... already planning your post-round-post-shower-smart-casual-clubhouse outfit

I can remember every hole at good courses I play. I remember greens, pin positions etc. I barely remember a thing about Yering.
And buggered if I remember which day the kids wear which school uniform!

Driver, 5 iron that rolled through the green, left a 40 footer 3 foot short and tapped in for birdie.
Didn't matter as you played a miraculous recovery over the left trap to 3 foot-ish to make the birdie, and with your ill-gained stroke, I lost the hole and the match. FFS

Your retelling of it is as glorious as my memories of it.
Happy days.

Couple of things I remember about Victoria Golf Club, my first ever match play, it was hot, Larry and Shaz rolling the last nine bare foot, barely remember any holes but played ok, great meal in a fabulous dining room, broke a glass oh and of course holding the Champs plaque

Victoria is a great course no doubt; staying overnight gives you an experience that you will never forget. It ain't a 5* hotel mind you (and you do have to pay for the privilege + wear a blazer for tea) but if your into golf history there is nowhere better to spend the night.
As good as it is, it certainly is no contest to either of its neighbouring courses (RMW & RME)
The members I played with were very friendly and accommodating
Worth every penny of the $300+ you will spend on the experience staying overnight - do it!

Still my fav course.
I still have the application form to join on my desk, bad sadly the $ is just a little too much at the moment.
I do intend to join in the next couple of years though.
Interestingly, RM is not dissimilar in price and waiting to VGC...hmmmm.
I know members at both, so being proposed shouldn't be an issue...just need to bide my time now
