I bought a few doz good nick TP5s in Perth last month. Should get me through the rest of the year. Plus I have a promo sleeve each of the 2019 Pro V1 and Pro V1X that I got at my fitting @ the Super 6, so those will see the light of the day soon enough.

The best thing is the 10 dozen mix-n-match deal they’re doing. Helps to get a few mates in on the order.

I’ve been exclusively on the Z Stars for the last 18mths or so. Love them, but might change it up next purchase and try some TP 5s or Chrome Softs (even if I’m not much of a Callaway fan at all). Interesting that Franky Moli had the best season of his career and switched to 14 Callaway clubs and ball.

Ferrins, get a box of the Q Star Tours - nothing comes close to them at $39/dozen. Everything you want from a premium ball. And I find they last better than the Zstars. Do it.

After reading what Webjack said about these balls, I thought I'd give the one I found the other week a go.

I played a late 9 today and was expecting a bit of distance loss with it being a "lower compression" ball (am I right in thinking it is)?

    What a surprise.

I hit a bunker shot on the 6th to the top of a ridge and it stopped on a dime.

Hit a tee shot on the 7th that was probably the longest tee shot I have ever hit on the hole, without a 30km wind behind me.

9 holes was only a small sample size, but there is nothing that would stop me from using one of these at this point. I've still got a large collection of new balls to get through first, but at $40 a dozen, these would get strong consideration in the future.

According to the Srixon website they are a lower compression than the ZStar / ZStar XV. I got given a box as a Christmas gift which I haven't dipped into yet as I'm working through my existing stash of other balls. I keep reading a lot of good things about them. I think I'll give them a go sooner rather than later.

I think that WAS the conventional wisdom- the softer it is the less it will fly. Chrome Soft changed the perception of that for me.

However when you listen to someone like Dean Snell discuss ball design and construction he uses the term “lower compression” as a way to lower spin off the driver.

There’s a video out there where he mentions reducing the compression of the new Snell ball to reduce driver spin and increase feel.
