Eagles, Double Eagles, Aces....
Hello fellow Ozgolfers!
Long time browser but first time post here, and was interested in knowing how long it took before you scored your first eagle/d-eagle/ace?
Been playing golf since my late teens, and now over twenty years later I have yet to score any better than a birdie.
I've had a few chances at eagle putts, as well as some very closest to the pin shots on various par-3's.
But after an estimated 2000+ rounds of golf in my life so far, the drought is still going. That is over 36,000 holes!
It seems like I would have a better chance of moving to QLD and winning the Powerball jackpot than I do getting one of those scores (http://www.smh.com.au/queensland/pow...05-gtmsy4.html)!
Any of you been dry longer than me?

I've only been playing for about 8 years, but I only have one eagle to my name. The par 3 10th at Kingston Heath.

A great hole to score your lone eagle on!

It took me around 25 years of golf before I holed out for an eagle for the first time. Still no holes in one to my name.

Were you able to see the ball go in the hole? For me it would be slightly annoying to have it happen (if it does) on an elevated green and not being able to see the ball trickle in. My first instinct would probably be that I hit it over the back and have lost the ball....

That's exactly what happened to me - I didn't see it go in, although I felt like I had hit it well. Got within sight of the green and couldn't spot it, so I went looking over the back. After a bit of fruitless searching I said to my playing partners "I feel like a bit of a wanker saying this, but I'm going to check the hole".

3 Eagles, putted one in on a par 5 and two par 4's with the hole out of sight so never saw them go in.

Seems aces are a rarity, though I do wonder how many pros on the PGA tour would also never have shot a hole in one.

I've had a bunch of eagles, mostly putting them in on par 5s and a hole-out from 100-odd. There's been an ace and a couple of chip-in eagles on short 4s in social rounds as well. I think my first eagle was in my early 20s so I'd probably been playing for about 10 years at that point.

What you on about?

This is the welcome and introduce yourself thread, so Golfiender should tell us about himself here.
Otherwise we will move this thread to golf matters, where I can discuss my 1 hole in one in over 45 years of golf. I think there may be an eagles thread somewhere where I told all about my 10 eagles. I can't reach par 5's in 2 or par 4's in 1, so I remain silent on the albatross subject.

Ahh apologies Jimandr, much like wearing shorts that are way too long to a private club, I see that I have breached protocol here with my first thread!
So let me start again...
Hi everyone, my first thread here (though really it's my 2nd thread), so please welcome me. I am Golfiender!

Don't worry, Golfiender ... Jim will have to google the word 'shorts'.
For the record, approx. 3,000 games of golf for 5 or 6 eagles and zero aces.
Welcome aboard.

That genuinely surprises me in a couple of ways. You are a pretty straight and consistent hitter off the tee, and your home course has a fair few HOI opportunities - 4 and 9 and 14 are all fairly short and a good chance to get close.

I don't have a hole in one after 16 years of playing regularly, and I haven't hit the pin either. I think I've got 5 or so eagles, with the longest from 105m out.

Wow Luke, that is remarkable.
I've had 6 eagles, lipped out for an Albatross, but not lucky enough to have had an Ace yet.

two aces a year apart. 2001 and 2002 I think. Two eagles, the second one a couple of weeks ago. Got it on a par 5 where I had 2 shots on the hole. Six points yesssssssss

It sure is and boy does he cop some flack for it!
There is one guy we play with quite a bit who pretty much mentions the hole in one drought on every par 3 tee now!
In September we were playing together and I had an ace (my second), I actually felt a little guilty lol!

One hole in one in a practice round, one albatross in comp and many eagles in 46 years of playing.Have even plugged a ball half an inch to the left of the hole on a par three dead pin high!
