While I like the LPGA, I don't get excited by their majors all that much.

But the event that starts today is the one I have had a genuine sense of anticipation for. Not because it is the Aussie Open so much, although that is a source if interest, but because of the course.

Many of us have played Royal Adelaide, so we will have first hand knowledge of the shots that face the players, and we'll be able to compare their shot to what we did from the same place on the course.

I reckon they won't be able to birdie 15 into a three club wind, and even if they do, they won't do it the way I did it.

It appears the ABC have the coverage. Any SA guys attending, so we can spot you on TV? If Hatch wears any of the Hatchpants collection we'll spot him, if they allow him on the course at all.

No wind here today. Won't be getting down as have too much work on, as much as I wanted too stand behind Michelle while putting.

It looks like the breeze has got up a bit, from the usual southwest direction.

I was a bit disappointed to see them play 12 at 150m rather than the 200 slog we have struggled to handle (except for JasonB last November). And I am absolutely shocked to see then playing 17 (downwind) as a 425m par 5. But most of the other holes I've seen are from the same distances we were playing.

14 looks a bit easier when they play it then it does when we spray it all over.

It also looks like the knee-deep hay may have disappeared since we were there.

Did the girls take driver on 3?
    If so, were they reaching?

They didn't show 3, and probably won't tomorrow either.

The coverage only started at 3.00pm, with the afternoon feature groups on 8 and 9, then the cameras followed them on the back 9. So we'll probably see Ko and Brooke Henderson play their full back 9, and not much else.

Love Brooke Henderson's swing - she winds up big time. With her blonde hair to boot she swings it like a female John Daly. Pretty impressive.

Granted I've not seen the course on telly before, but Royal Adelaide looks amazing!

One of the funnest rounds you'll have on a golf course.

    Unless its blowing 50 knots.

The holes certainly look sensational but what's with all the large bare areas?

Sandy waste areas. Doesn't need to be watered, slightly less penal than goonge, except you can find balls.

    Ah, the memories.

The ABC just flashed up the weather conditions for today's play. 17 and 30kph winds. The same temp as the SA Champs but the breeze was even stronger back in November.

Su Oh shot 5 under, which is really good in the conditions. She must be a big chance to win tomorrow.

For those who haven't been or aren't watching, the flyovers of each hole on the coverage are fantastic. They give a much better indication of the layout than the cameras showing the shots.

Just like Champs. Blowing and cold, 36C by midweek.
